Mrs. Ruthie Mae Clemons

CLEMONS, Mrs. Ruthie Mae - Age 90, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, October 9, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 w. Flint Park Blvd., with memorial service commencing at 2:00 PM, Pastor Kelly Richards, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Chapel 1:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Clemons will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Ruthie Mae Clemons was born March 17, 1930 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the daughter of Louis and Sue Alexander. Ruthie graduated from Little Rock High School, Decatur, MS. She was affectionally known as “Grammy” and dedicated her life to her family. Ruthie loved spending time with her family. She particularly loved babysitting and playing games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Grammy” loved to travel to various locations such as: Hawaii, Las Vegas, Georgia, and Texas. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching any competitive sport. Her home was the gathering location for family and friends. “Grammy” was the matriarch of the family who will truly be missed. Mrs. Clemons passed away on October 1, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Mrs. Ruthie Mae Clemons leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Willie R. Clemons-Griffin (Alex) of Southlake, TX. Linda V. Clemons, of Flint and Susan Clemons-Burnett, (Devereaux) of Haddock, GA; 5 grandchildren, Koya (Therron) of Flushing, MI, Kanisha of Flint, Tiekeya of Atlanta, GA, Deveraux and Jasmine, both of Haddock, GA; 6 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua of Atlanta, GA, Rafael Jr., Kyndal and Therron Jr., all of Flushing, MI and Brooklynn ; 2 brothers, Joe Alexander and Virgil (Mary) Alexander, all of Flint; sister, Dorothy Patrick of Philadelphia, MS; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Clemons was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Clemons; son, Jerry Clemons; parents, Louis and Sue Alexander; sister, Eula Franklin; and brother, William Alexander. The family would like to express special thanks to Rafael and the Murphy family, Dr. Michael Boucree and Nancy Hawkins.
