JOHNSON, Mr. Ruthel - Age 75, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich, MI. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m., Eld. John Thornton officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Ruthel L. Johnson was born July 31, 1935, in Wildsville, Louisiana, the son of Norris and Pleasure Johnson. Ruthel accepted Christ at an early age and maintained a relationship with the Savior throughout his life. As a young adult Ruthel relocated from Wildsville, LA to Flint. He soon became employed with General Motors where he remained a dutiful employee for thirty-three years. In 1976, Ruthel married the late Patricia Johnson and to this union Pleasure Johnson was born. Ruthel and his daughter shared a special relationship that endured until his death. When he was not caring for his daughter, he loved to fish, play dominos, scratch off lottery tickets and hang out with his friends at Dawn Donuts. Ruthel often looked after neighborhood kids, all of whom adored him. Mr. Ruthel L. Johnson leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Selene Johnson, Joanna Barber and Pleasure Johnson; grandchildren, Edward (Lashawnda) Johnson, Qiana Towns, Jermaine (JaShanti) Walker and Comorya Clayton; great-grandchildren, Byron Powell, Samaura Abernathy, Deajahni Johnson, Elijah Johnson, Bradan Johnson, Cassidy Towns-Boone, Aniya Johnson and JaSiah Walker; brother, James Savage; special nephew and caregiver, Roger Clark-Johnson; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Ms. Fay Sanders, Horace Daily and his many friends and the owner at Dawn Donut Shop, Clio Rd. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Johnson; daughter, Carolyn Johnson; parents, Norris and Pleasure Johnson; sister, Mildred Cogers; and brothers, Titus Johnson and Archie Farris. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Ghassan Bachuwa and the entire Genesys Hospice staff.
