SMITH, Mrs. Rutha L. - Age 60, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Memorial service 5PM-6PM Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Mrs. Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 11AM-6PM Wednesday. Mrs. Smith will then be taken to Craft Funeral Home, 210 Martin Luther King Dr., McComb, MS 39648, (601) 684-5971. Mrs. Rutha L. Smith was born October 6, 1947 in Sandyhook, Missisippi. The daughter of J.C. Weary and Eunice Weary-Hamblin. Mrs. Rutha L. Smith resided in Mt. Morris, MI. She attended New Jerusalem Full Gospel Church. She received an Associates Degree in nursing at Mott Community College. She was a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse). She retired from Hurley Medical Center, out of the Dialysis Unit. She loved life and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Rutha L. Smith leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Cleophus Smith Jr. of Mt. Morris, MI; mother, Eunice Hamblin of Tylertown, MS; 4 children, Dededra Washington of Columbus, GA, Abreace (Zina) Daniel of New Orleans, LA, Troy Easterling and Shawn R. Smith Sr. both of Flint, MI; 5 step-children, Donna Dillard of Coumbia, MS, Dewitt Smith of Flint, MI, Marie Smith of New Orleans, LA, Cynthia Smith and Ruth Smith both of Slidell, LA; 18 grandchildren, Tiffany, Aniyah, Branden, Lauryn, Kristoffer, Darnell, Troy II., Shawn Jr., Troy (T.J.), Jardyn, Jaden, Whitney, Cicely, Keisha, Gregory Jr., Alexia, Christina, and Tihirah; 3 brothers, Premium J. Fortenberry Jr. of Vallayho, CA, Grover Fortenberry of Houston, TX, and Carl Fortenberry of Atlanta, GA; 4 aunts; 2 uncles; mother-in-law, Mary Smith of Foxworth, MS; 4 sisters-in-law; 4 brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends, Pamela and Cassandra Williams, Hazel (Clemmie Bullock) and Ruby King. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her father, J.C. Weary and aunt, Betty J. Fortenberry. The family would like to express special thanks to everyone who expressed concern and offered prayer.
