Mrs. Ruth Ann Riley

RILEY, Mrs. Ruth - Age 74, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, July 9, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home, 1:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Riley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Ruth Ann Riley was born March 16, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas the first child of 8 to Alfred Payne, Sr. and Susie Ida Moore-Payne. Ruth Ann (best known as Ann) attended and graduated school in Beaumont. During her junior and senior years in high school, she attended cosmetology school and received her license as a Cosmetologist. After graduation, Ann married David Riley. A year later, they moved to Flint, Michigan to pursue better opportunities. To this union two children were born, Raheem and Tannyika. Upon arrival to Flint, Ann put her cosmetology license to use by working at various salons in the area. She worked at Wig Land for many, many years until Covid-19. While working at Wig Land, Ann became employed with Metal Fabricating Plant a division of General Motors, retiring with 30 years service in 2007. Ann was an avid bowler who traveled extensively with her team until Covid-19. She also played on the Red Socks softball team and was a member of the Hasselbring Dancers. And let us not leave out that she was a great cook! Being led by the Holy Spirit, Mrs. Ann Riley joined Golden Leaf Baptist Church where she served on the Kitchen Committee, worked with the Youth Department, sang with the Women’s Day choir, and worked as a volunteer with the Golden Leaf Neighborhood Services. She also attended weekly Bible Study. In God’s care, Mrs. Ruth Ann Riley leaves to cherish her life and memories: son, Raheem Riley of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Tannyika Daniels of Flint; grandchildren, Italia, Tiyanna, and Taliyha Daniels, Raheem and Quareem Riley, De’Quan Fleming, Monique butler, Dominez Burnett and Tamyia Fryer, all of Flint; sisters, Elsie Mae (Harold) Broussard of Spokane, WA and Carolyn Sue (Shelly) Foster of Killeen, TX; brothers, Alfred Payne Jr. and Kenneth Ray Payne, both of Beaumont, TX; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including nephews, Robert Jermaine Harris and Marlon Harris whom both lived with her for some time; special friend, Walter Duncan and the Willie Nance Family. Mrs. Ruth Ann Riley was preceded in death by parents, Alfred Payne, Sr. and Susie Ida Payne; sisters, Rose Mary Payne-Landry, Violet Marie Payne-Harris, and Brenda Faye Payne-Williams.
