GOLDEN, Mrs. Ruth Beatrice - Age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills. Family hour 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Quinn Chapel AME Church, 2101 Lippincott Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM, Wednesday May 8, 2024. Mrs. Golden will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Visitation will be during family hour only. Ruth Beatrice (Scroggins) Golden gracefully departed this life at her home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on April 14, 2024 surrounded by love after a brief period under hospice care. Born in Flint, Michigan on November 13, 1932, Ruth was the eldest cherished daughter of Charles and Rose Scroggins. She embarked on her educational journey at Central High School in Flint before pursuing her passion for nursing at Mott Community College, where she earned her nursing degree. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Saginaw Valley College, where she obtained her BSN, and later University of Detroit, where she obtained a master’s in education and nursing, exemplifying her dedication to lifelong learning. Ruth’s illustrious career in nursing began at Hurley Hospital in Flint before she found her calling as a nursing instructor at Mott Community College. Her commitment to her students was unparalleled, and she poured her heart and soul into nurturing the next generation of nurses, both inside the classroom and in the hospital setting. Ruth’s tireless dedication and mentorship extended beyond the confines of her profession, as she selflessly invested her personal time in ensuring the success of her students. A woman of deep faith, Ruth was an active and devoted member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, where she served in various capacities over the years. She also found fulfillment in her membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., embodying the values of service and sisterhood. In addition to her professional and community contributions, Ruth found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She delighted in cooking for her beloved family, especially her husband and cherished granddaughters. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world through travel, while her green thumb flourished in her beloved yard. Ruth found camaraderie and competition in her bridge club and indulged her passion for shopping often being a live caller on QVC. However, above all else, Ruth’s heart belonged to her family, and she treasured nothing more than the love she shared with her four adoring granddaughters. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Ruth is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved parents, Charles and Rose Scroggins; her brothers, Homer, Donald, Roy and Edward; and her devoted husband, Albert (AP) Golden. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, cherished by her sisters, Rose Norris and Janice Dunkling; her children Albert Golden, Cynthia (Michael) Walker and Jacquelyn (Randy) Lane; her granddaughters, Mallory (Kenneth) Applewhite, Bailey (Tristan) Lewis, Spencer Lane and Brandyn Walker; great-granddaughters, Noa Lewis and Maddison Applewhite; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her warm generosity. In the tapestry of life, Ruth’s vibrant spirit will forever remain woven into the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her legacy of love and compassion continue to inspire generations to come.
