DAVIS, Mrs. Ruth Ann - Age 96, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Macedonia Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Samuel Berry III, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Davis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, and may be viewed 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday, with family present to receive friends 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Mrs. Ruth Ann Davis, age 96, of Flint, Michigan gained her wings, December 25, 2019 with her family by her side. Ruth was born November 20, 1923 in Uriah, Alabama, the daughter of Allen and Mary (Shoemo) English. She was one of thirteen children. Ruth moved to Flint, Michigan with her beloved husband, Joe Davis at an early age. Together, they raised two daughters, Bettye Ann and Sheila Denise Davis. She was an active member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully for over 70 years. She served faithfully on the Deaconess Board and long-time member of the Gospel Chorus, Sunday School and Inspirational Voices. Ruth Ann Davis affectionately known as “Aunt Ruthie” and “Gran Gran” played a huge role in being the Matriarch of her family and was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren. As a resident of the City of Flint, Ruth served her community as a Voter Registration Clerk and Volunteered at her grandchildren’s school. Mrs. Ruth Ann Davis leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Sheila (Joe) Gaines of Flint; son-in-law, Anderson Johnson Jr. of Jersey City, NJ; 6 grandchildren, Darryl D. Johnson, David (Sandra) Johnson, all of Flint, Jory (Theasher) Mickens of Pensacola, FL, Jordyn Mickens of Flint, Stannette Lee of Memphis, TN and Brittny Gaines of Nashville, TN; 8 great-grandchildren, Darryl D. Johnson II, Ayanna Johnson, Devyn Johnson, Courtni Johnson and Danielle Thompson, all of Flint, Naundi Edwards of Memphis, TN, Nyle Gaines and Nikolas Gaines of Raleigh, NC; 4 great-great-grandchildren; Kyrie Mickens of Flint, Journi Mickens of Pensacola, FL, Peyton Thames of Flint and Trevion Jackson of Pensacola, FL; niece, Bridget (Joe) Wilkerson; siblings, Lula Mae Boykins and Franklin English, both of Pensacola, FL; sister-in-law, Marie English; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Velma Eldridge, Maurice Lever, Monique Cole, Ann Haywood, Jackie Mickens, Lena Armstrong, Larry (Ann) White, Viola Hughes and Elder George Dunigan. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Davis; daughter, Bettye Johnson; grandson, Anthony Gaines; parents, Allen and Mary English; sisters, Ethel Shoemo, Vinney Bryant and Mary Shackleford; brothers, William English, Allen English, Henderson English, Eddie English, Willie English, Gaines English and Curtis (Billie) English. Harris Sr., Shirley (Joe) Peterson, Pamela Lanehart-Johnson and Pastor Samuel Berry III.
