Rufus Love

LOVE, Mr. Rufus - Age 47, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church, G-3184 Pierson Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Dr. Fred S. White officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Wednesday. Mr. Love now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Tuesday. Mr. Rufus Cornelius Love was born November 22, 1960 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the son of Mr. Eddie Lee Giles and Mrs. Mirtie Ree Smith. He fought a good fight, finishing his race on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. God came and quietly took him to his rightful resting place called Home. Mr. Rufus gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a former member of New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Pastor Fred S. White. He was a member of the Security Team and the Kitchen Committee until his health failed him. He retired from the Beecher School District. Brother Rufus C. Love 32 degrees was a member of the International F&AM Masons in order of the Eastern Stars, Ralph Bunche Grand Lodge State of MI, Member and & Worship Master of Aaron Lodge #150, Past Council President of District #2 Flint, District Patron for District #2 OES, Vice President of the Marshall's Council State of Michigan, Member of Annie Thompson #212 OES, Hegira #32 of Shriners, he truly loved the Lord, his beautiful wife, church, family, and friends. He enjoyed playing pool and dominos, cooking, fishing with his mother and working on old cars. He leaves in God's care: his amazing wife, "Queen" Diane; daughter, Kamilliah Love; son, Rufus Love Jr.; 2 stepdaughters, Tomika (Jawaun) Johnson and Sharonda Johnson; stepson, Floyd Johnson, all of Flint, MI; mother Mirtie Ree Smith, of Yazoo City, MS; 5 sisters; 8 brothers; mother in law, Hazzel Mayes; father in law, Milton Mayes, both of Flint, MI; a host of relatives and friends survive including special brothers of the International F&AM Masons in order of Eastern Star. Mr. Love was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Arora, Dr. Singh, staff at Great Lakes Cancer Institute. Dr. Asmar, Dr. Forstall, and the McLaren Nursing and Hospice Staff including Cathy, Paul, Connie, and Kim. We extend a great appreciation to International F&AM Masons in order of the Eastern Star, Pastro Fred. S. White and the New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church Family, Pastor Johnnie Goodman and the Church of Flint Family.
