MIDDLEBROOKS, Reuben -Age 63, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at McLaren Hospital-Flint. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St., Flint, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Middlebrooks will lie in state in the Chapel of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing.] Mr. Reuben Middlebrooks was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, November 11, 1952 and passed away March 3, 2016 in Flint, Michigan. He lived in the city for more than 45 years. During that time he worked for the auto industry, married twice, had three sons, 2 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and surrounded himself with a great number of friends. Today, we say goodbye to him and share the grief among us all. Rueben was able to triumph over many adversities in his life. During his struggles though he never lost his ability to laugh, love and give generously, to a fault. He was known among all his friends and family for his great sense of humor and concern for the lives of others. Reuben was a gifted musician, a trumpet player, who won battle of the Bands competitions as a young man. He loved to play cards with his extended family and even grew to enjoy fishing with his late mother-in-law, Marie Taylor. He was delighted to be a grandfather to Amir and Zion Jawhari. But over and above all else, Reuben loved to dress. No man ever had the wardrobe Reuben owned. He was never seen in public in anything less than a colorful. Attention getting outfit. He dressed sharp and he knew it. And most certainly, he would always wear his trademark hats. For most of us, this is the image of him that will always last. Mr. Reuben Middlebrooks leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Regina Middlebrooks; sons, Eric Reuben (Sandra) and Mychael Anthony Middlebrooks and Adam Tristan Jawhari; sister, Cheryl Anne Middlebrooks; brother, Robert (Sandy) Middlebrooks; many nieces and nephews, especially Joseph Derrick, Martin Derrick and Letha Dion Berry; great nieces and nephews who all held a special place in his heart; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends Marcus Gerald Williams (Mikey), the Beavers family (Mary Louise), Miss Shirley, Ms. Cindy Rice, Kevin and ex-wife, Pennie Collins (Middlebrooks). Mr. Middlebrooks was preceded in death by his mother, Letha Derrick-Middlebrooks; brothers, James Derrick, Thomas Derrick, Donald Middlebrooks and Rufus Middlebrooks.
