Ms. Ruby Monae Tate

TATE, Ms. Ruby Tate Monae - Age 39, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, OH. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Ms. Tate will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral home, and may be viewed from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday. Ms. Ruby Monae Tate was born on April 16th, 1976 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Dennis L. Waters and Gloria Tate. She was a member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church while living in Flint. Ruby attended Flint Northwestern High School prior to moving to Columbus, OH where she went on to graduate from Centennial High School. Ruby enjoyed teaching, learning, spending time with her children, family and friends. Ruby was a dedicated teacher for CDCFC Head Start of Columbus, OH for 17 years. She held a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration and also a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education. Ruby consistently updated herself with educational tools and more engaging ways to teach her classes. Her passion for teaching and learning was a hobby and her greatest legacy. Ms. Ruby Monae Tate leaves to cherish in her memory: loving father of her children, Demetrius Ervin, Sr.; 2 daughters, Monique Tate and Natrese Ervin; son, Demetrius Ervin, Jr.; 2 grandchildren, Josiah Woods and Mykale Tate, all of Columbus, OH; grandparents, Robert (Howard) Tyler of Mt. Morris, MI; 4 sisters, Juwana Tate of Columbus, OH, Ligeesha Tate of Detroit, MI, Harmony Tate of Columbus, OH and Fresha Tate of Flint; brother, Deonta Tate of Columbus, OH; 2 nieces, Tamiya Tate and JaLeah Williams; 5 nephews, Jawan Whittler-Tate, TaJuan Tate, Markies Rice, Tabyas Lane and Jeremiah Edwards-Tate; 2 great-nieces, Mailani Wallace and Nyla Wallace; great-nephew, Jaylen Tate; 2 aunts, Ramona (Clevester) Rison and Anita (Eugene) Wise; 4 uncles, Eddie Jackson, Kenneth Waters, Rodney (Rosemary) Waters, all of Flint and Bruce Waters of Atlanta, GA; great-uncle, Charles (Agnes) Austin, Jr. of Flint; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special cousins, Kenyatta Waters, Sara Jefferson, Alfreda Jefferson and special friends, Kerebi Mochoge and Matrice Jones.
