Mrs. Ruby Martin

MARTIN, Mrs. Ruby - Age 67, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Avenue. Pastor Reginald Flynn, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Martin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Tuesday. Ms. Ruby Lee Martin was born October 17, 1944 in Seminary, Mississippi, the daughter of Tom and Winnie (Rawls) Martin. She attended Carver Central High School in Collins, MS graduating in 1962. After relocating to Flint, MI in 1969, Ruby united with Foss Ave. Baptist Church. She began her career with Flint Osteopathic Hospital as a Nurse, later joining Hurley Medical Center where she retired in 2010 after 30 years of service. Even after retirement Ruby continued her services as Treasurer of Local 825 LPN Union. Her hobbies included, traveling, reading, watching movies, and casino trips. Ruby was one of a kind; she enjoyed talking to people and will always be remembered for her contagious laugh. Ruby had a kind heart and kindred spirit, always willing to help someone. Ms. Ruby L. Martin leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Hattie Mae Watts, of Flint; 2 brothers, Tom Alex Martin, of Seminary, MS and Gussie Martin, of Hattiesburg, MS; stepdaughter, Jessie (Bobby) Pamphlin; grandchildren, Myesha Pamphlin and Bobby Pamphlin, Jr., all of Jackson, MS; special great-niece, Lakeisha Martin, of Pontiac, MI; nephew, Johnnie Martin; god-mother, Katherine Wright, both of Hattiesburg, MS; best friend since elementary school, Eva Wright, of Chicago, IL; stylist, Connie Walton, of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends. Ms. Martin was preceded in death by lifelong companion, Elester Miller; parents, Tom and Winnie Martin; 4 brothers and 2 nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Reginald G. Flynn and the Foss Ave Baptist Church, Dr. Peddireddy, Dr. Towfiq and Hurley Medical Center Family, and the staff of CICU at Genesys Health Park.
