BLUNTSON-ALEXANDER, Mrs. Ruby Mae - Age 72, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016 at her Jean's Lakeside AFC Home-Holly, MI. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Rising Star Baptist Church, 502 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Frank Woods, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Bluntson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, with family present 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. We are here to celebrate the life of Ms. Ruby Mae Bluntson. She was born in Hill House, Mississippi on February 20th, 1943, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Mary Lillian (Jackson) Bluntson. In 1945 the family relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ruby later met and married Mr. Royal Alexander Sr. in July of 1971. From their union they raised five beautiful children together. Growing up Ruby enjoyed learning to cook with her father and grandfather. She also enjoyed: playing cards, dancing, entertaining family and friends, and playing pranks. Ruby loved shopping, perfumes, and nice clothes; however, cooking may have been her favorite pastime. In addition to her family she fed: friends, friends of friends, and a countless number of other people. Ruby was strong willed and high spirited. She held a minister’s license and later was an active member of Heavenly Host where she served on the Nurse’s Guild. During her career she was a Teacher’s Assistant, Cook, and Caregiver. Ruby had a big heart and also housed the elderly, youth, and several foster children. Ms. Ruby Mae Bluntson leaves to cherish in her memory: daughter, CaSandra (Alvon) Alexander-Lathan of Flint; 4 sons, Yvaes (Elizabeth) Alexander of Seattle, WA, Dardenio Lawson, Royal (Jarvonne) Alexander Jr., and Beinville Alexander, all of Flint; 12 grandchildren: Diirell Alexander, Yareasia (Antron) Ellis, Beinville Alexander II., Derek Alexander, RuSharra Euwing, Danielle Alexander, Jarron McAllister, Dre’Ante’ Miller, Miah Diirell, Austin Dirrell, Rianna Alexander and Jasmine Alexander; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 sisters, Ramona Rison of Flint, Jane (Roderick) Green, Paula (Wylie) Bowman, Pamela Crump, Lori Bluntson, all of Grand Rapids, MI; 5 brothers, Eddie Jackson of Flint, Robert (Rose) Bluntson, Randy Bluntson, Mark Bluntson, and Michael Fisher, all of Grand Rapids, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Bluntson was preceded in death by: her mother, Mary Jackson; father, Samuel Bluntson; grandparents, Charles and Lillian Austin; brothers, Dennis Waters and Samuel Blunston Jr.; niece, Ruby Tate; nephews, Clevester Rison Jr and Roamoe Tate; and cousins, Jerome and Elaine Austin. The family would like to send special thanks to her sister-in-law and best friend, Elizabeth Alexander; Lena Cooper her caregiver; Terrilynn and the staff from Jean’s Lakeside View; and the Heart 2 Heart Team Nurse Sherri Wisse and to all of the Heart 2 Heart staff members.
