BLEDSOE, Mrs. Ruby - Age 98, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 424 Kennelworth Ave ., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Bledsoe will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Ruby (Harris) Bledsoe, transitioned peacefully at Briarwood and McLaren Hospice on February 4, 2018 in Flint, Michigan at the astonishing age of 98. She was born in Coleman, Michigan on August 5, 1919 to Fred and Myrtle Mae (Holley) Harris, one of ten children. She graduated from Coleman High School in 1939. Ruby relocated to Flint where she quickly found employment as a day worker. Soon after, began working at AC Spark Plugs, retiring after 30 years. Ruby married Clarence Eugene Bledsoe, the true love of her life, in 1947. Together, they enjoyed a wonderful and prosperous life. Their hard work and dedication allowed them to travel extensively, seeing new and exciting places. Clarence and Ruby were devoted members of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Flint, Michigan. They serviced the Flint community in many capacities. Ruby was an honored Eastern Star. Mt. Olive was the foundation for their child and grandchildren. Ruby hobbies included sewing, crocheting, gardening, and cooking. Ruby Bledsoe is survived by her son Paul L. (Charlene) McKay I of Flint, MI; her grandchildren, Paul II, Keyvon, Lam, Tamara, Athena, Sonia, and Cayden (all of Flint, MI), Eric McKay (Franklin, TN); her great grandchildren, Brittany (San Diego, CA), Christopher, Aaishah, Naadijah, Ciara, Sumaiyah, Jonathan, Ave’r, Mumina, Adam, Laylaa, Mario, Jasmine (Flint, MI), Isabella and Benjamin (Franklin, TN); her great great-grandson, Isaiah; daughters in love, Lucille (Flint, MI) and Julie of (Franklin, TN); sisters Doris Ann Smith (Lansing, MI) and Madeline Wright (Detroit, MI); a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Myrtle Mae Harris; beloved husband Clarence Bledsoe; brothers Alonzo, Homer, and Kenneth Harris; and sisters, Edna (Harris) Wilson, Iota (Harris) Payne, Goldie (Harris) McEwen, Helen (Harris) Banks, Marquette (Harris) Ridgeway, and Louise (Harris) Seevers. The family would like to thank Landings Senior Living, Briarwood and McLaren Hospice staff; Reverend Wilson and the entire Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church family.
