Elder Roy Moore

MOORE, Mr. Roy - Age 70, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2018 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Divine Grace Ministries, 3271 Atherton Rd. with funeral services commencing at 11:00 AM, Apostle Bobby Johnson officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00AM Thursday. Mr. Moore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday. Elder Roy Moore Jr. was born February 26, 1948 in Camden, Arkansas, the son of Roy Sr. and Ollie Moore. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1966.” He also attended Mott Community College. Roy served in the United States Air Force where he studied Dentistry and was Honorably Discharged. He was employed at General Motors Corporation and at a Hospital in California in the Collections Dept. Roy accepted Jesus Christ in 1997 and attended Bible College for 4 years under the leadership of Pastor James Wheeler. He became a Minister and Elder under the leadership of Apostle Bobby G. Johnson where he was a long standing member of Divine Grace Ministries for 20 years up until the time of his passing. Elder Moore went to Insight where he transitioned from patient, to Counselor, to Sponsor/Teacher. He truly was a “Fisher of Men.” Elder Roy Moore Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife, Kathy Marie Moore; 5 daughters, Tywana Davis, Lakaytis Moore, Kamille Pea, all of Flint, Tonie Moore of Atlanta, GA and Iyonna Moore of Florida; 2 sons, Deon Moore-Royster and Demetrius Cook, both of Flint; 4 step-children, Kenya Maynor, Meosheunukee Welch, Cathy (Jonathan) Harvey and Brietta Welch; 20 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Barbra Caldwell, Brenda (Roy) Steward and Beverly (Acue) Parham; 2 brothers, Gary Moore and Kevin Moore; a host of nieces and nephews; uncle, Eddie Moore of Camden, AR; a host of cousins including matriarch cousin, Ruth E. Lott of Flint; sister-in-law, Ernestine Moore; 5 brothers-in-law, Vernell Lee, Richard (Vanitta) Maynor of Flint, Kevin (Deborah) Maynor, J.C. Maynor of Flint and A.C. (Lora) Maynor Jr. of Southfield, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Gene Leverette (more than a friend, he was a confidant , friend and brother. There are no words that can explain who he was to him), John Bray, Elder Steven Boone, Ron Hughey, Allen Sawyer, Richard Davis, Tommy Williams and Lee Toins (barber, where he met his wife). Elder Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Sr. and Ollie Moore; sister, Tammye Henderson; and brother, Michael Moore.
