Rosie Rutherford

RUTHERFORD, Ms. Rosie - Age 75, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 12Noon Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Bountiful Love Ministries, G-3432 Pasadena Ave., with funeral service commencing at 1PM. Supt. Kevelin B. Jones, Sr., officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12Noon Thursday. Ms. Rutherford will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday. Ms. Rutherford was born December 7, 1932 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, the daughter of Otha and Lee Ader Harris. Strong minded and good willed she moved to Flint in the summer of 1963 with her five children, where she then gave birth to her sixth. Rosie had a passion for playing bingo and spending time with her family. She loved to collect elephant figurines, good luck charms for bingo, and anything that had to do with Christmas. Rosie leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Alzie (John) Fletcher of Flint; sister-in-law, Lucille Harris of Lima, OH; special niece, Sara Defroe of Arkadelphia, AR; children, Shirley Wilson, Carolyn (Sylvester Pollard) Guise, Steven (Sharaun) Rutherford, Barbara Sims, Patricia Thompson, and Bobbie Rutherford; daughter-in-law, Stella Rutherford; goddaughters, Geraldine Smith, all of Flint and Kathy Harrison of Mt. Morris; grandchildren, Paul Rutherford of Dallas, TX, James Wilson, Jr. of Columbus, OH, Michael (Alma) Wilson of Flint, Marcus Rutherford of Decatur, GA Luntrell (Doris) Rutherford of Roger City, MI, Lacresia Thompson, Stepanie Rutherford, Sherida (Antoine) Sims-Jones, Jamilah (Develin) Jones, Min. Calvin D. (Iola) Sims, LeTia Thompson, Tara Stanley, and Egypt Rutherford, all of Flint; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special friends, Eva Gillard, Rose Doyle, Mae Wyatt, Ophelia Dixon, Ruby Scott, Madie Thompson, all of Flint and Sadie Tobias of Lima, OH; a host of other family and friends. Ms. Rosie B. Rutherford was preceded in death by her parents, Otha and Lee Ader Harris; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Phillips and Mary Sue Stewart; brothers, Otha Harris, Jr. and Arthur Harris; son-in-law, James Wilson, Sr.; granddaughter, LaVitta Love Guise; nephews, Charles Williams, Dector Stewart and John Fletcher, Jr.; and niece, Evelyn Head.
