Rosetta Lark

LARK, Mrs. Rosetta - Age 77, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 12Noon Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 1258 E. Humphrey St., with funeral service commencing at 1PM, Pastor Lamarr Griggs officiating, Rev. Dr. Major A. Stewart, Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12Noon Tuesday. Mrs. Lark will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 10AM-6PM Sunday and 8AM-12Noon Monday. Mrs. Rosetta Lark was born November 29, 1931 in Mississippi, the daughter of Ella Jemison and Caas Naylor. Rosetta was married on November 19, 1952 to Jack Lark in Tuscaloosa, AL. She attended Parker High School in Birmingham, AL and also attended Miles College. Rosetta moved to Flint with her husband (Jack) in 1955. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church until she changed her membership to Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where she was one of the founders under B.T. Anderson. Rosetta served on the Mothers Board and the Pastor’s Aid Committee faithfully until her sickness. She loved her Pastor and Church. Rosetta worked for Hurley Medical Center in the Housekeeping Department and was a member of Local #651; she also was a Teacher’s Aid at Kennedy School. Mrs. Rosetta Lark leaves to cherish her memory: husband of 56 years, Jack Lark, Jr., of Flint; children, Jacqueline (Aubrey) Porter, Gloria Lark, Mahaley “Mavis” Freeman (Fiancé Derek Eason), all of Flint and Jack (Kim) Lark III of Macomb County, MI; grandchildren, Chantel Edwards of Lansing, MI, Ronald Gildersleeve, Jonathan Smith (Fiancée Esperanza Torres), Jon Freeman, Jr., Bryan Lark, Ronnie Lark, all of Flint, Jerald Lark of Macomb County, MI, Rodney Brackins, Jr. of Flint and Aubrey Porter, Jr. of Kansas City, KS; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Gavin Blackmer, both of Flint, Canron Gildersleeve of Long Island, NY and Nevaeh Smith of Flint; 2 sisters, Lena Mae (Rev. Eddie) Ware of Buffalo, NY and Lizzell Savage of NY; brother, Lawrence Jemison of NY; a host of nieces, nephews, including special nieces, Catrina Simpson of Clarkston, Theresa, Valerie, and Patricia Naylor, all of Flint; uncle, Gene (Barbara) Parker; 4 sisters-in-law, Frances Ann Martin of Tuscaloosa, AL, Emma Wheeler of Flint, Henrietta Duncan of Washington, DC and Sue Duncan of Flint; God children, Yvonne Bryant, Maryann Griggs (Taylor), Lamarr Griggs, Leroy Griggs, Emma Somers, Phyllis Williams, Roz Hairston and LaQuandra Griggs; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Virginia Griggs, Ann Marie Anderson, Pauline Snotty, Ida Marie McKenzie, Nancy Wilson, Jeffrey Williams, The Organ family, Mother Jackson, Mother Booker and Mother Mitchell. Mrs. Lark was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Jemison; father, Caas Naylor; grandson, Jack Lark IV; 3 sisters, Susie B. Handley, Hittie Mae Patton and Eddie Mae Colvin; 3 brothers, Billy Burton, Issac Jemison and Frank Naylor; 3 nieces; 5 nephews and 1 brother-in-law.
