CAMPBELL, Mrs. Rose - Age 87, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Brian's House in Davison, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at Word of Life Christian Church, 460 W. Atherton Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor George Wilkinson, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Campbell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m Sunday with family present from 3-5 p.m. Mrs. Rose Louise Campbell, affectionately known as “Tootsie”, was born February 14, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan; the oldest daughter of Ernest Myers and Rosa (Davenport) Holliday. Rose was a longtime resident of Flint and had lived in Fenton for the last four years of her life. She was born February 14, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan; the oldest daughter of Ernest Myers and Rosa (Davenport) Holliday. She attended Flint Public Schools, graduating from Central High School, Class of 1943. On August 24, 1942, Rose married Clarence C. Campbell. This union was blessed with six children and lasted more than 65 years, until his death in 2008. Rose and Clarence loved spending time with their family at the family cottage at Shay Lake in Tuscola County and motor trips. Rose was a very accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed playing her piano. She leaves to cherish her memory: five children: daughters, Gail Williams (Charlie Bruce) of Flint, Carole (James) Williams of Ada, MI, Cheryl Campbell of Woodbridge, VA; two sons, Clarence (Bettina) Campbell Jr. of Rankin and Robert (Wanda) Campbell of Fenton. She also leaves seven granddaughters, Dionne (Nate) Elliott, TaMara Rose Campbell, Michelle Williams, La’Tia Williams, Rhaiana Campbell, Alexis Elliott and Moneisha Campbell; seven grandsons, Terrance (Regina) Campbell, Jo’Von Rutherford, Andre Rutherford, Garrett Williams, Jonathan Campbell, Torrance Campbell, Tyler Campbell, and Jay’ln Rutherford; sister, Marion Hudspeth; sisters-in-law, Essie Lattimore and Catherine Williams; she will also be remembered by a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence C. Campbell Sr.; daughter, Madeline Rose, parents, Ernest Myers and Rosa Georgia; father and mother-in-law, Hardwick and Eula Mae Campbell; sisters-in-law, Eula Dew and Abby Byars; and brother-in-law, Shed Hudspeth. The family extends special thanks to wonderful staff at Brian’s House, the Med Team staff at Lockwood of Fenton, The Word of Life Christian Church family, and First Community AME Church family, Grand Rapids.
