ROBERTS, Deacon Roscoe - Age 88, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2006 at Avalon Hospice. Deacon Roberts will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-5PM Monday. Afterwhich, Deacon Roberts will be taken to House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church for "A Musical Celebration" from 7-9PM. Family hour 11AM Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Eld. Kenneth Stewart officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Tuesday. Deacon Roscoe Robert, Sr. was born January 23, 1918 in Rison, Arkansas, the son of Henry and Betty Roberts. Deacon Roberts was a resident of Flint, Michigan. He was one of the first City of Flint Police Reserve. He retired from General Motors Chevrolet Metal Fabrication UAW Local #659. Deacon Roberts enjoyed gardening, carpentry, watching gospel and western TV stations. He was a member of Foss Avenue and Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board. Later becoming a faithful member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church where he attended Bible Study and served as a Deacon. He loved people "I love everybody". Deacon Roscoe Roberts, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Rosetta (Fred) Haywood, Tureia Roberts (James Dockery) both of Flint and Marcia (Charles) Stanford of Decatur, GA; daughter-in-law, Eylastine Green-Roberts of Bloomfield Hills; 18 grandchildren, Cheryl (Robert) Page of Mission Viejo, CA, Brigitte Reaves of Nashville, TN, Cherise (Quinten) LeFlore, Craig and Roy Roberts of Flint, Jourdin and Garryt Roberts of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Nicole (Dr. Mario) Pacada of Long Beach, CA, Atty. Gwendolyn (Dr. Mario) Majette of Silver Spring, MD, Brenda Daniel of Dolton, IL, Sheila Dixon of Chicago, IL, Colette (Leonard) Watkins Lithonia, GA, Marcia Haywood of Long Beach, CA, Melanie (TyrVon) Love of Nashville, TN, Joy and Melissa Roberts of Flint, Marcus Roberts of Tuskegee, AL and Spc. James Peacock of Fort Campbell, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Deacon Roberts was preceded in death by his wife, Abbie Roberts; 2 sons, Roscoe Jr. and Terry Roberts.
