MILLER, Mr. Roosevelt “Tuggie” - Age 83, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Miller will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Monday, March 8, 2021 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with the family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Interment Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Mr. Roosevelt “Tuggie” Miller was born March 3, 1937 in Louisville, Mississippi, the son of the late Bunion and Lula Miller. He attended Winston County Training Schools and completed his education after joining the United States Army. Roosevelt served our country for fourteen years before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1969. Mr. Miller moved to Flint, Michigan in 1969. He worked for Chevrolet Metal Fabricating a division of General Motors Corporation and was a member of UAW Local #659 for 33 years before retiring in 2004. Mr. Miller accepted Christ at an early age at Union Chapel in Louisville, MS, he later joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and served under the leadership of the late Dr. Granville Smith and current sitting pastor, Dr. Henry L. Fuller Jr., he was an active member of the Senior Usher Board. Mr. Miller late joined New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Patrick W. Sanders Sr. He married the love of his life, Judy F. Johnson on December 18, 1976. He was an outgoing loving person that enjoyed spending time with family, reading his bible, fishing, doing Word Search puzzles and he was a devoted die-hard Saint Louis Cardinal fan. Mr. Miller was a true family man, he loved, supported and encouraged all! Mr. Roosevelt “Tuggie” Miller leaves to cherish his memory: beloved and faithful wife of 44 years, Judy F. Miller; sons, Jesse L. Jackson of Louisville, MS; sons, Jesse L. Jackson of Louisville, MS and Rodney (Johnson) Muhammed of Chicago, IL; 3 grandsons, Carlos, Ricky and Marcus Jordan, all of Louisville, MS; 3 granddaughters, Khashia and Khayra Johnson, and Rachel Gates of Memphis, TN; brother, Johnny Miller of Flint; 3 sisters, Kate Talley of St. Louis, MO, Catherine Minor of St. Louis, MO (formerly of Flint) and Elizabeth “Liz” Lee of Flint; sister-in-law, Betty Eichelberger of Louisville, MS; brother-in-law, Faser Johnson of Chicago, IL; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Ricco Manning, Albert Wolford, Willie Robinson, Melvin Alston and Jessie McIntosh. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, Bunion and Lula Miller; brothers, Garland and Albert; sisters, Edie Mae Miller, Ida Mae Miller and Mattie Ashford.
