DARROUGH, Mr. Roosevelt "R.D." - Age 82, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at First Union Baptist Church, 7004 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing 12Noon. Pastor Archie Powell, Jr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Tuesday. Mr. Darrough will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mr. Roosevelt "R.D." Darrough was born January 7, 1924 in Rison, Arkansas the son of Willie Marks and Osbourne Darrough. Mr. "R.D." Roosevelt Darrough was a proud and faithful member of First Union Baptist Church, where he served faithfully on the Trustee board and sang with the Mighty Male Chorus. "R.D." was a retiree from Flint Assembly Local 598 and Chevrolet Truck and Bus. He also was a member of the Golden Eagle #203 International F and AM Masons and order of the Eastern Stars. Mr. Roosevelt Darrough's favorite past time until his health began to fail was hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Mr. Roosevelt "R.D." Darrough leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Betty Darrough of Flint; 2 daughters, Alcia Brooks of Covington, GA, Johnnie Mae Etherly; 3 sons, Keith (Lena) Darrough all of Flint, Kelvin (Angie) Darrough of Chesapeake, VA, Roger Hill of Tulsa, OK; 2 step children, Robin, Alfred (Karen) Robertson all of Flint; 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 2 sisters, Bernice (Paul) Love of Flint, Ms. Louise Dean of Pine Bluff, AR; 3 brothers, Joe (Alberta) Williams, Freddie (Jessie) Darrough all of Flint, Eddie and Val Darrough of South Haven, MS; aunt, Mary Shields of Rison, AR; 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Moore of Flint, Patricia Housing of New Orleans, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including the Darrough, Marks, and Releford families. Mr. Roosevelt "R.D." Darrough was preceded in death by his parents, son, 5 sisters and 6 brothers. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Marvin Latchana, Pastor Archie Powell, Jr. and the First Union Baptist Church Family.
