Mr. Ronald Vanoal Tate Sr.

TATE, Mr. Ronald Vanoal Sr. - age 61, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Grand Blanc Rehabilitation and Nursing Center-Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Tate will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Ronald Vanoal Tate, Sr. was born May 12, 1953, in Decatur, Alabama. He was the son of the late Frank Auburn Tate, Sr. and Christine Avery Tate. He was raised in Detroit and attended Detroit Public Schools. He received his Associates Degree from University of Michigan. His employment career began with National Bank of Detroit and ended with Genesis 10 as a Project Manager. Ron was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a dapper dresser and never passed up a good sale. He was an avid sports fan and spent many hours loudly refereeing from the sidelines while watching his sons participate in football, swimming and soccer. They also had many robust conversations about sports in his man cave. Ron was the grilled meat and fried turkey expert for the holiday meals. Ron was a tireless worker at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church. He served as President of the Men’s Usher Ministry, a member of the Communion and Men’s Ministry, and anything else he was called upon to do. Ron loved to travel, especially going on cruises, and made it a mission to travel frequently with his family. Ron leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 30 years, Cheryl E. Tate; two sons: Ronald Vanoal, II (Jasmica) of Norfolk, VA U. S. Navy and Ryan Vyncint of Dallas, TX; one granddaughter, Mariya Alana; one brother, Frank A. Tate, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX; one sister, Deborah Tate of Detroit, MI; a special uncle, Melvin Garrett of Woodlands, TX; a mother-in-law, Jacqueline Kent of Detroit, MI; two sister-in-laws: Adrienne (Sylvester) Daniels and Danielle (Ken) Byron, both of Detroit, MI; two nephews: Terrance (Terrie) Daniels of Flint, MI and Kevin Daniels of Detroit, MI; five nieces: Racheal (Raymond) Hatchett of Belleville, MI, Rebecca Tate of Eastpointe, MI, Christina Barnes, Candace Daniels and De’Jah Kent, all of Detroit, MI; special cousins: Gwen Hall of Canton, MI, Leroy Pryor, Jr. of Decatur, AL, Alfreda Pryor of Chicago, IL, Rev. Earl (Ida) Pryor of Griffin, GA, Belinda Pryor of Decatur, AL, Mark Garrett of Detroit, MI, Melvin (Renee) Garrett II, and Michael (Arlene) Garrett, all of Woodlands, TX; and a host of great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
