SIMPSON, Mr. Rodney D. - Age 79, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Bishop David Maxwell, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mr. Simpson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Rodney Dennis Simpson was born April 21, 1932 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Louis and Daisy Simpson, Sr. Rodney attended Flint Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Dorothy and to this union brought six children. Rodney was a faithful member of Bread of Life Deliverance Ministry for 10 years, where he served as an Honorary Usher and Deacon. He retired from McLaren Regional Medical Center. Rodney was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed many hobbies; such as deer hunting, fishing, boating and family gatherings. Rodney also was a volunteer for the Senior Companion Program of Genesee and Lapeer Counties. He leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Kimberly (Alfonzo) Credit of West Bloomfield, MI and Kelly Simpson of Lansing, MI; son, Brent (Diane) Simpson of Flint; mother of his children, Dorothy Simpson; 11 grandchildren, Lawanda (Calvin) Moore, DeCarlo Mitchell, all of Flint, Tara Talton of Columbus, OH, Temeka Simpson of Nashville, TN, Ramada Brown of Chicago, IL, Timothy Simpson and Carmelo Simpson, both of Lansing, MI, Rodney Credit, Alexander Credit, Antwaan Credit and Antonio Credit, all of West Bloomfield, MI and Alfonzo Credit, Jr. of Livonia, MI; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine (Lonzo) Rushing; brother, Louis (Genevieve) Simpson, all of Flint; 5 nieces; 3 nephews; a host of cousins; 3 sisters-in-law, Sheila Simpson, Charlotte Morgan and Genevieve Simpson, all of Flint; brother-in-law, Lonzo Rushing; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mrs. Dorothy Simpson, Mrs. Pamela Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. John and Sheila Wells, all of Flint and Mrs. Loretta Herring of Jackson, MS. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his sons, Rodney Dennis Simpson, Wendell Simpson and Troy Simpson; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis and Daisy Simpson, Sr.; and brother, Robert Simpson.
