Roderick "Papoose" Adair

ADAIR, Mr. Roderick Duane "Papoose", Sr. - Age 50, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Saginaw Convenant. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at Secret Place Tabernacle, 1701 Harrison St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Pastor Nate Dennis officiating. Interment 1:30 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Mr. Adair will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Roderick Duane "Papoose" Adair, Sr. was born December 31, 1960 , the son of the late Brenda Adair and Ronald Coulter. He was born and resided in Flint. Roderick received his diploma in 1979 from Flint Northwestern High School. He was a former member of Shiloh M.B.C. Roderick was currently employed by the Saginaw Board of Education/Sodexo Incorporated. He was an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the Marine Corps, with 4 years of service. Roderick's hobbies included, electric football, video games, golf, and fishing. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and his alma matter alumni "Northwestern Widcats". Roderick was his son's # 1 fan and his namesake. He was loving and devoted "Daddy" "Paw Paw" and friend. Roderick was also the oldest of 5 sibilings. He loved and cared deeply for his family. He had a special bond with his baby brother that shared his birthday. Roderick will always hold a special place in the hearts of every child related or affiliated with his "other mother" Marie Washington. Roderick Duane 'Papoose" Adair, Sr., leaves to cherish his memory: one and only daughter, RaDreena Adair; sons, Chioke Washington Sr., Eric Jones, Sr. and Roderick Adair, Jr., all of Flint; other children, Dashika "Missy" McCarthy, Dreylen Hare, Dominez "Summers" Burnett, Donella Wright; grandchildren, Chioke Washington, Jr., Armani Washington, Acire Washington, Eric Jones, Jr., all of Flint, and Tanajia Jones of NC; father, Ronald Coulter of CA; 2 sisters, Rose Adair, Samantha (Jeffery) Adair-White; 2 brothers, Houston Bernard (Pam) Adair of San Diego, CA, George (Sarah) Adair of Indianapolis, IN; 3 nieces, Tyler, Drake, and Genesis; 3 nephews, Dominique, all of Indiapolis, IN, Houston, Jr., and Marcus both of San Diego, CA; uncle, Gordon Nichols (Barbara) of Saginaw, MI; a host of cousins, including special mention, Michael Thompson and Rose Chew; othe relatives and friends including childhood friend, Richard Nathanal, Walter White, Raylee 'Mom's" Marie Washington and Teresie Lee; special friend, former-wife and mother of his children, Shelly (Washington) Thompson. Mr. Adair was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda E. Adair; uncles, James Nichols, Curtis Adair; grandparents, Dorothy Adair, Carl Dent; aunt, Ethel Smith; and cousin, Betty Thompson.
