WILLIS, Mr. Robert Edward - Age 69, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Genesys Health Park-Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor William Parker, Jr., officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Willis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 6-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Robert Edward Willis was born January 7, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of Lennie Mae Calloway and E. Warren Glass. Robert “Bob” moved from New Orleans to Picayune, Mississippi at a young age where he attended George Washington Carver High School. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18, he was extremely proud of his time served in the Army and often spoke of the different places he had traveled while serving. After Bob returned home, he later moved to Flint, Michigan, where he permanently resided. Bob loved to play poker and watch old western movies in his past time. Mr. Robert Edward Willis leaves to cherish his memory: biological son, Robin Wilson of Hattiesburg, MS; foster children, Sam Willis and George Cooksy; god-daughter, Patricia Gray; he was father figure to Many including Theresa Ingram, Paulette Yarbrough, Calette Townsend, Denisa Anderson and Maurice Townsend all of Flint; grandchildren, Dominique Wilson and Jordan Amones; step- sister, Maudell Corley of Hattiesburg, MS; step-brothers, Harold Owens and John Owens, both of Jackson, MS; nieces, Stacey Walker of Pontiac, MI, Sharae Pennyman of Auburn Hills, MI and Shanina (Davren) Meeks of Roseville, MI; nephews, Harvey Pennyman of Pontiac, MI and Elecko Davis of Flint; a host of cousins from Picayune, MS, including special cousins, Sally and Carl Woodson; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Gloria Townsend, Olivia McGee, Mr. & Mrs. Albert Hawkins, Kelley Smith and many more. Mr. Robert Willis was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Roland Willis; brother, Willie Earl Pittman; sister, Nina Pennyman and best friend, Russell Williams.
