WILLIAMS, Mr. Robert Marcellus Sr. "Bobby" - Age 78, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at his residence. Public Viewing will take place from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Mr. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Mr. Robert Marcellus “Bobby” Williams, Sr., age 78, died Friday, January 15, 2016 at his home in Flint, Michigan. He was born September 13, 1937. Bobby grew up in a household supported by his mother, Alberta Wolfe, grandmother, Bethel Wolfe, and aunt and uncle -- Christine and Hubert Hughes. The family lived on “St. John Street” in Flint, Michigan. Bobby graduated, in 1955, from Flint Central High School where he won varsity letters in football. He valued academic achievement and completed some coursework at Mott Community College. Bobby worked in the automobile industry, was an active member of the United Automobile Workers, Inc. and held an elected position on behalf of his co-workers. He retired from General Motors in 2000 after 44 Years of service in the Chevrolet Division. Bobby married Betty Gipson in 1956. The marriage produced two children; son, Dandré Williams and daughter Geneé Williams. The couple divorced in 1961. In 1962, Bobby met Verniece Butler. The couple married in 1965 and spent fifty years of marriage together. Their union resulted in the birth of son, Robert Marcellus Williams, Jr. He was father to daughters: Lorinda Shepard and Micah Williams and son, Jovan Blackwell. Bobby was artistic, loved music, singing and dancing. He was committed to the advancement of those around him. He dedicated himself to life-long learning. He spent much of his life meeting and attempting to understand people of all walks of life. Bobby was a devoted family man. He often rallied in support of efforts by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members to pursue academic, economic and other advancement opportunities. Mr. Robert Marcellus “Bobby” Williams, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Verniece; children, Dandré (Freda), Geneé, Robert Jr. (Ceola), Lorinda Shepard, Jovan (Brie) and Micah; granddaughters, Jennifer Williams, Lakeisha Hawkins, Daveeny and Layla Blackwell and Avery Vorse; grandsons, Dandré Williams II, Theodore Jones III and Demetrius Williams; great-granddaughters, Tahjuanna and Dahjuanna Jones, Brayden Hill and Gianna Brown; great-grandsons, Theodore Jones IV and Jason Williams; great-great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Dennis) Rushing; brothers, Hubert Hughes, Michael Hughes, Russell Carson, Robert Hughes and Gary Hughes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family friends and devoted acquaintances. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his mother; grandmother; grandfather, Perry Wolfe; brother, Bruce Hughes; and Bruce’s daughter, Kimberly Hughes; aunts and uncles, Christine and Hubert Hughes and Edward and Evelyn Wolfe; uncle, Erskine Wolfe; cousin, Jesse Greene; in-laws, Mr. Clarence Butler and Ms. Mable Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Constantine and Lee Hopkins; sister-in-law, Kathie Dones-Carson.
