WALKER, Mr. Robert, Jr. - Age 76, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Thursday, August 6, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Rev. Oscar Hare officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Thursday. Mr. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday. Mr. Robert Walker, Jr was born August 4, 1932 in Wadley, Georgia, the son of Robert and Lenora Walker, Sr. He was a graduate of Northern High School, “Class of 1951”. During his high school years, he played basketball and football and also participated in the Golden Gloves. Mr. Walker was an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. During his military career, he participated in track and field. He coached Flint City League basketball teams at the community center. Robert was a monarch of his community, family and friends. Whenever there was a need, he was there. Robert will be greatly missed. Mr. Walker retired from Jones & Simpson Construction Company. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. Mr. Robert Walker, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Joyce (Walter) McNutt of Jonesboro, AR, Marsha (Jimmy) Cargile of El Dorado, AR, Carla (James) Guise of Forrest City, AR; son, Brick (Connie) Walker of Chandler, AZ; “special grandson”, Terrence T. “Terry” Walker; grandchildren, Destiny McNutt, Walter McNutt, Jr., Derik, Steve, Kevin Walker, Ronda and Ralonda Hudson, Floyd Perkins, Jr., Tyrone Henry, Jr., Tymetrius and Montel Walker and Jasmine Walker, Veronica, Ceola, Jimmy, Lee Lee and Larry; many great-grandchildren; brother, John Walker of Flint; “special nieces, Patricia (Terry) Crews, Sr., Sheila (Robert) Simpson; nieces, Marketa Moore, Paulette Haynie, all of Flint; nephew, Vance Walker of Washington, DC; son-in-law, Willie (Stella) Marrs of Forrest City, AR; sister-in-law, Bobbie Walker; brother-in-law William Moore, both of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, T. J. Turner; neighbors, Ms. Fannie Lee, Sharlene Hawkins, Mary Frances and families. Mr. Robert Walker, Jr. was preceded in death by: beloved wife of 46 years, Loretta “Jerry” Walker; daughter, Katrina Marrs; parents, Robert and Lenora Walker, Sr.; granddaughter, Shawnte Walker; grandparents, Eddie and Gertrude Elbert; 1 sister; 1 brother; 4 aunts; 5 uncles; 1 nephew; 1 sister-in-law; mother and father-in-law Oral and Emma Readis Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, McLaren Regional Medical Center, Pastor Albert W.
