SIMPSON, Mr. Robert, Sr. - Age 76, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Cross Missionary Baptist Church, 3063 W. Coldwater Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Pastor Albert W. Hare officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Friday, Mr. Simpson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Robert "Bobby" Simpson, Sr. was born March 28, 1933 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Louis and Daisy Simpson, Sr. "Bobby" was a resident of Flint and received his education in the Flint Public Schools. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and was Honorably Discharged. "Bobby" retired from General Motors Chevrolet Manufacturing Plant, a division of General Motors in 1982 after 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local # 659. He was a faithful member of The Cross Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as the President of the Usher Board. "Bobby" was an avid golfer; he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. "Bobby" loved photography and took photos everywhere he visited. Robert followed President Obama and Tiger Woods faithfully; he could tell you everything about them. Mr. Simpson loved children and was a mentor, coach and surrogate parent to many children including his nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Robert "Bobby" Simpson, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: loving and devoted wife: Sheila; children, Cerese (Samuel) Pennington of St. Louis, MO, Robert (Melinda) Simpson, Jr. of Fairburn, GA, Nekisha Elliot of Austell, GA, Tatum and Terra Simpson, both of Flint; grandchildren, Robert Simpson III of Kennesaw, GA, Ashley Ashburn of St. Louis, MO, Elmer Simpson of Fairburn, GA, Carmea Lawrence of Kennesaw, GA, Shamarr Burke of Austell, GA and Camryn Simpson of Kennesaw, GA; great-grandchildren, Arianah Simpson of Flint and Darron R. Boone, Jr. of St. Louis, MO; sister, Geraldine (Lonzie) Rushing; 2 brothers, Louis (Genevive) Simpson, Jr. and Rodney (Dorothy) Simpson, all of Flint; 5 nieces; 2 nephews including special nephew, Seeber "Timmy" Wingfield, Jr.; aunt, Annabelle Ferrell of Kansas City, MO; uncle, Clarence Simpson of Pennsylvania; numerous cousins; mother and father-in-law, Ms. Bobbie Walker and Mr. John Walker, Sr., both of Flint; brother-in-law, Vance Walker of Washington, D.C.; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Capus Robinson, Sr., Joe Ferrell, James "Thursday" Moore, Rev. Oscar Hare, Matt Thompson, all of Flint and Carmitra Lawrence of Kennesaw, GA. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Louis and Daisy Simpson, Sr. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Albert W.
