Mr. Robert Ronald Miles

MILES, Mr. Robert Ronald - Age 68, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, January 20, 2018 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Miles will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Robert R. Miles was known to family as Ronnie and to friends “Miles, Granddad and Bob”. Robert was born January 26, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Robert L. and Mildred (Benton) Miles. He was also preceded in death by his older sister, Jacqueline L. Miles. Robert transitioned from labor to reward on January 13, 2018. He graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1968 in Pittsburgh, PA. Robert was employed by U.S. Steel & Dow Corning before relocating to Flint, Michigan. During his time in Flint he worked for AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors, Whaley Children’s Center and VEMCO, a division of General Motors. Robert did such an outstanding job that The Flint Journal wrote an article about him in regard to him working at Whaley and VEMCO at the same time. He was very proud of that moment because he always had a strong concern for children who required extra care. Robert enjoyed helping the children at Whaley Children’s Center by sharing with them how they could become more than their present situation, being successful and knowing “the sky was the limit.” Miles accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in Pittsburgh, PA on Friday, October 11, 2013. Miles loved spending time with his entire family. He had a warm loving spirit and he never met a stranger that he could not carry on a conversation with. Miles had a comedic side where he could have you laughing that you would be crying and holding your side from laughing so much. Sometimes you could even see yourself visualizing some of the things he would use as examples. He would have these looks on his face that were so funny that you just had to join in with laughter. Miles loved traveling to some of the most beautiful places in the world such as Brazil, Mexico, California, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Florida just to name a few. He loved sharing his many memories of traveling with family and friends. Robert R. Miles leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life for over 27 years Eulalia Rushing, two daughters, Taneka Lusane and Candy Wyatt; grandchildren, Je’kalen Wyatt, Brandon Lusane Sr., of Evergreen, AL, Shalon Hamilton and Charnaé Courts; great-grandchildren, Brandon Lusane, Jr., Brayden Crenshaw, A’Milah Dixon and Ali’Jah Dixon; 2 sisters, Barbara J. McClelland of Pittsburgh, PA and Patricia E. Miles; brother, William L. Smith, both of Streamwood, IL; five Nephews, Kevin L. Miles (Karen), Michael L. McClelland, and Brian L. McClelland, all of Pittsburgh, PA; Tawn Smith (Antioneda) and Tyrese Spears of Arizona, and a host of extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including his very special friends for over 50years, Donnie Merriweather, Louis Freeman and Jeff Andrews.
