JONES, Mr. Robert James - Age 78, passed away Friday, April 1, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30PM Thursday, April 14, 2005 from the Chapel of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Thursday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wenesday. Mr. Robert James Jones was born September 22, 1926 to George Jones and Bertha Kline Jones in Vicksburg, Mississippi. In his late teens, he joined the Navy and often talked about his travels, especially Hawaii. After his tour of duty, he moved to Albion, Michigan to work with his father and oldest brother, the late George, Jr. (affectionately nick named "Thin"). He later joined the family to live in Jackson, MI. From there he moved to Flint, where he worked for General Motors until his retirement. Robert has left many cherished memories to remember him by, such as his love for the latest fashions including his Stacey Adams shoes and caps, were at the top of his list. He also loved pinky rings, a good joke (he had a great sense of humor), and our mother's homemade rolls. His favorite hymn was "Until we meet again." The scripture he most often recited was John 14:2-7: Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you will be also. And where I go ye know, and the way ye know. I am the way, truth and the life: No man cometh unto the Father but by me. Mr. Robert James Jones leaves to cherish his memory: son, Darren (Cathy) Jones; 4 grandchildren; siblings, Clara Stafford of MI, Edna Reese of NY, Sam (Mary) Jones of MI, and Alice Parker of MN; nieces and nephews, Nolan Stafford, Robin Stafford, Deborah Thompson, Tina Reese, George Jones III, June Stafford, Alan Jones, Robert Reese, and Stacey Jones; uncle, Floyd Kline of OH; aunt, Gladys Kline of CA; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Jones; as well as a host of other relatives and friends from Chicago, Ohio, Michigan and Mississippi. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Jones (1998); 3 nephews; and 1 niece. The family would like to express special thanks to Ms. Tina LaBean, his beloved friend, for her assistance and care.
