EPPS, Mr. Robert, Jr. - Age 58, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 at his residence. Family hour 1:30PM Friday, October 23, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM, Pastor Herbert L. Banks officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Friday. Mr. Epps will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 3-8PM Thursday. Mr. Robert Lee Epps, Jr. was born July 14, 1951 in Jackson, Mississippi to Robert and Tommie Epps. He and his parents moved to Flint, Michigan when he was 2 years old. Robert attended the Flint Public Schools, graduating from Flint Southwestern High School, “Class of 1969”. He also attended college. Robert joined the U.S. Navy in December 1974, in San Diego, California and was discharged in June 1978. He continued living in San Diego for several years before returning home to Flint. Robert was employed as a clerical worker at the University of Michigan in Flint for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and loved to cook for them. Robert was also a hardcore gamer. He was very dedicated to running errands and shopping with and for his younger sister, Rheta. They had a very special relationship. He will be so missed for his giving spirit, his love of life, and his straight forwardness. Robert always spoke what was on his mind and was always genuine with everyone. He leaves to cherish his memories: father, Robert Epps, Sr.; sisters, Rhonda (Andra) Howard and Rheta Epps; brother, Ronald (Gaynell) Epps, Sr.; nephews, James Epps, Devon Howard, and Ronald Epps, Jr.; aunt and uncle, Frederick and Ellen Hunter; cousins, Bettye Guy, Darrel (Sheena) Hunter; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Rolin Johnson, David (June) Williams, Bruce Strange, and Bettie Wilborn. Mr. Epps was preceded in death by his mother, Tommie Epps; aunt, Marie Burnside; grandparents, Henry and Rachel Epps and Beatrice Robertson.
