Mr. Robert Cuba Sr.

CUBA, Mr. Robert Sr. - Age 67, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with memorial service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Bennie Williams officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Cuba now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing. Mr. Robert Lee Cuba, Sr. (Lone Rider) was born February 4, 1948 in Kedron, Arkansas, the son of Henderson Cuba and Georgia Wills (Alonzo) Martin. Mr. Cuba was a longtime resident of Flint, Michigan. Robert accepted Christ at an early age at Foss Avenue Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Avery Aldridge and later became a member of Joy Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James E. Searcy. Robert graduated in 1966 from Northwestern High School in Flint, Michigan. Robert was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army in 1969 after serving in the Vietnam War. Robert retired from Buick City a Division of General Motors Corporation after 40 years of service in 2006 and was a member of UAW Local #599. Robert was a retired President of Boogie Down Motorcycle Club, Flint, Michigan. Robert was avid sports fan. He had a love for football, basketball, baseball and golf but most of all always giving advice to his grandsons and nephews on how to play football and basketball. Robert also had a way to give advice to everyone who would listen but when he was given advice he had a way of pleading his case. Robert was a very giving and caring person especially for his children and family. Robert favorite saying at the end of a conversation was “Stay Prayerful”. Mr. Cuba leaves to cherish his memory: 5 daughters; Codzella Wilson and Aniouka Cuba of Texas, Niyonaka Cuba and ShaQwetia Childress of Flint, MI, and Daquandra James of Arizona; 3 sons; Robert Cuba, Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI, Damon Cuba Sr. of Wisconsin, and Devon Childress of Flint, MI; 1 Special son James Williams of Texas, 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Father, Henderson (Cubie) Cuba; 1 Sister; Judy Tisdale-Moore of Ohio, 1 Sister/Cousin; Etta Sue Hamilton of Arkansas; 4 brothers; Terry, Maurice, Lindsay and Clark Kent Cuba all of Flint, MI; Special Niece; Briona (JT) Tyus; Special Nephew; Andre (Consuela) Moore of Ohio; Host of nieces, and nephews; 2 aunts; Zora Clarke of Flint, MI and Ruth McLeod of O’Fallon, MO, 3 uncles; Sidney Cuba of Pine Bluff, AR, Calvin Compton of Atlanta, GA ,and Landon Martin of Flint, MI; Mothers of his children: the late Mildred Wicks Cuba-Larry, Bernetta McGee, the late Elizabeth Jackson, Jackie Furlow and Shatrell Childress. Host of other relatives and friends including special friends: Marzella Williams, Willie Sanders, Wallace Holder and Boogie Down Club Members. Mr. Cuba was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and Alonzo Martin and Christine Cuba, 2 brothers, Calvin Sawyer and Johnnie Ray Cuba; 1 Nephew; Dewrell Tisdale, 9 aunts; Margine Frazier, Darlene Harris, Fannie Monroe, Georgia Chapman, Ola Mae Hodo, Shirley Compton, Ophia McClure, Christine Hodges and Earnestine Robinson, 9 uncle, John Russell, Daniel, James and Howard Cuba, Louis Johnson, Richard and James Wills, Perry Martin and Willie Lee Hodo. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Minasian, Dr. Fares, Dr. Danish, the Staff of Advantage Home and Hospice, Nurse Sara, Home Aid Scott, Pastor Bennie Williams, Boogie Down Motorcycle Club, his sister Judy Moore, Lawrence E. Moon and Staff, and all of the expressions of kindness and prayers during the Cuba family’s time of bereavement.
