GRIER RICHARDSON, Mrs. Robbie - Age 79, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024. Robbie Richardson Grier received her heavenly reward on October 25, 2024, at the age of 79. Mrs. Grier is predeceased by her husband, George Grier; son-in-law, Jeffry Moore; mother, Rosa Richardson; father, Alvin Richardson; father, Robert B. Owens; stepmother, Ruth Owens; and brothers Alvin Richardson, Jr., Terrell Richardson, Robert A. Owens, and Carl Owens. Robbie Grier is lovingly remembered by her children, Rhea (Roy) Greer, Audra Moore, and Isaac Grier, all of Little Elm, TX; her doting grandchildren, Robert Richardson, Jasmine (Gissel) Santana, and Alexandria Moore; brothers Merrill Richardson (Flint, MI) and Mark (aka Eric) Owens (Tampa, FL); sisters Gale (LeRoy) Johnson, Rose Richardson, and Margaret (Leon) Handley, all of Flint, MI; and Joan (aka Nita) Owens Bates, Carol Owens, and Yolanda (aka Pearl) Owens, all of Tampa, FL. A host of nephews and nieces, along with many cousins, extended family, and dear friends, also remain to cherish her memory. She is also lovingly remembered by those who were like family to her, including Lusheia Gomez, Natalia Gomez, and Nadia Gomez, whom she considered a daughter and granddaughters in every sense of the word. Robbie Grier was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 28, 1944, the daughter of Rosa Richardson and Robert B. Owens. After moving to Michigan, she graduated from Millington High School in Millington, MI. In 1974, Ms. Richardson married George Grier, and they were married for 13 years before he transitioned in 1987. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan-Flint, where she also worked as the Admissions Director for 13 years. Mrs. Grier was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Zeta Beta Omega Chapter of Flint, MI. She served on the Board of Directors for the Ivy House Clothing Center, an organization that provided access to professional attire, helping individuals remove barriers to job opportunities and feel more confident in interviews and at work. Mrs. Grier was a gifted musician who played several instruments, including the French horn, guitar, and harp. She played the organ and piano for Mount Olive Baptist Church, Foss Avenue Baptist Church, Dozier Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha programs, and many other venues. Her last affiliation was Friendship Baptist Church of the Colony. There she was a faithful member of the Unified Choir and Mature Members Ministry. A Texas memorial service will be held on November 22, 2024, at 11:00 am at Friendship Baptist Church of The Colony, 4396 Main Street, The Colony, TX 75056, her last affiliation. A Michigan memorial service will be on January 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at Word of Life Christian Church, 460 W Atherton Rd, Flint, MI 48507. Attending funeral home is Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, Inc., 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Flint, MI 48505 Interment will follow at River Rest Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Road, Suite G, Flint, MI 48504.
