BOWIE, Eld. Rita Joyce - Age 69, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Church Without Walls Ministries, 6202 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Martez Warren, officiating. Interment, Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:0 AM Saturday. Eld. Bowie will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flit Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, November 4, 2022 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Elder Rita Joyce Bowie was born December 7, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Obie George Sr. and Lucille Warren. Rita was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a member of Church Without Walls. She graduated from Flint Northwestern High School and attended Detroit College of Business. Rita retired from General Motors Corporation. She loved cooking, fishing, shopping, reading her Bible and playing cards. Rita also loved spending time with family especially her grandchildren and traveling. Elder Rita Joyce Bowie leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, Derrick (Tracie) Bowie of Flint and Clifton (Keyana) Bowie Jr.; grandchildren, Christopher “Buddy Lee’, Brandon, Talia, Kayla, Nadia, Kiara, Chie’ko, Clifton III “Dranny Man”, Keziah, Winkie, Netta, Tutu, Tonte, John and Naheim, all of Flint and Arriana of Utah; great-grandchildren, Dakota of St. Louis, MO, and Malakai of Flint; 12 nephews, Martez (Natasha) Warren, Tremikus (Arian) Muhammad, Gregory Calhoun, Wesley Miller, Markus Love, Carl Johnson, Gregory Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Agriel Pulliam, Yocquese Pulliam, Paul Cook and Paul Rutherford; 6 nieces, Pe’at Warren, Rosaland Johnson, Kathy Love, Anesia Pulliam Gordon, Kenyetta Dotson, and Silencia “Girl Child” Vines; 2 aunts, Mary Cheek and Roberta Cheek of Houston, TX; uncle, Henry Lindsey of Flint; cousins, Janet (Bill) Little, Kenny “Reese Cup”, Joanne (Robert Earl) Cager, Bobby, Faye, Hellen Jean, Tonya P., Delano (Retta) Poole and many more; sisters-in-law, Nancy Grant, Belinda (Curtis) Stewart, all of Jackson, MS and Lyndia “Kat” Black of Flint; brother-in-law, Runt Bowie; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, San Fran, Ms. Paulette, Prissy (Marilyn), Skipper, Vera, Ledora, god-son/nephew, Rahshemeer and god-daughter, Terri Lynn; many great-nieces and great-nephews. Elder Bowie was preceded in death by her parents, Obie George Sr. and Lucille Warren; grandparents, Edgar George and Matilda Cheek; brothers, Paul Cook, Greg Warren, Charles Pulliam and Obie George Warren; aunts, Nina Mae, Dorothy Cheek, and Danie Lee Whitehead; uncles, Johnny Ray Cheek, and Charles Cheek; great-granddaughter, Lyla B.; and nephew, Quincey.
