Rickey Griffin

GRIFFIN, Mr. Rickey Eugene - Age 54, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008 at his residence. Family hour 1:30PM Saturday, February 9, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM, Rev. James O. Flowers, Sr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Saturday. Mr. Griffin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Rickey Eugene Griffin was born March 27, 1953 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Annie Griffin. Rickey was a resident of Flint since early childhood. He attended Flint Public Schools, Fairview Elementary, Lowell Jr. High and Flint Northern High School. Rickey was an outstanding athlete in football, track, wrestling, and weight lifting. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, playing chess, cooking and watching television, very bright poetic, great sense of humor, and had a great heart in caring for needs of others. Most of all, he loved his family. We loved Rickey from the bottom of our hearts, we shall never forget about Rick-Rick. May he rest safely in the arms of God. Mr. Rickey Eugene Griffin leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Nasienka Umeki Francis; son, Kevin; 2 grandchildren, Imani Ghendiya Horne and Isan Nyre Francis; mother, Annie Lee Griffin, all of Flint; sister, Savannah (Percy) Crawford of Inkster, MI; 2 brothers, Michael R. Griffin, Sr. Flint (Long Beach, CA) and Terry (Elnora) Griffin; a host of nieces and nephews; aunt, Mary L. Watson, all of Flint; a host of cousins in Flint, Detroit, Chicago, Ohio, Atlanta, Alabama and California; 3 sisters-in-law, Travistine Everage of Adelanto, CA, Elnora Griffin and Debroah Williams both of Flint; 4 brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends including first cousins, Bretford Griffin, Fredrick (Marquita) Watson, Deborah (Alfred) Hamilton, Ron-Del Watson, Boaz (Tracy) Watson, Keren-Happuch, June Watson, Ardella Henderson, Hosey and Shirley Smooth, special friends, Kenneth Brickey and Cedrik Miller. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his father; 2 sisters; grandparents; aunt; uncles and other relatives.
