COLEMAN, Mr. Richard Darnell - Age 49, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1215 E. Downey St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Morris A. Collins, Sr, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. Coleman will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday with family present from 4-6 p.m. Mr. Richard Darnell Coleman was born May 19, 1964 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Willie and Desserine Coleman. He attended Beecher Community Schools. Richard was employed at Key Plastics, Crossroads Village and Ramada Inn. He loved cooking for everyone in the neighborhood and watching the block of Charles Avenue. Richard’s favorite pastime was watching TV shows such as Law & Order, Gunsmoke and The Andy Griffith Show. Mr. Richard Darnell Coleman leaves to cherish his memory: special son, Marcellus Scott; numerous grandchildren; 5 sisters, Deborah, Francis, Roxanne, Jeanette and Maxine (Eddie) Horton; brother, Michael Coleman, all of Flint; sisters & brothers, Helen Faye Chapman, Bobbie Rogers, Debra (Fred) Marshall, John and Lamont Chapman; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends including special friends, Carl Montgomery, Steve Welch, Jeffery Currie, Scott Alexander, Will Robinson and Kevin Currie. Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Desserine Coleman; sisters, brothers, sister-in-law, aunts and uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to Morris McNeal for the travel times, the Charles Avenue family and the Garden’s Neighborhood. I’m Free Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free. I’m following the path God has chosen for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I’ve found my peace at the end of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Oh yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. Look for the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I’ve savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; Don’t lengthen your pain with undue grief. Lift up your heart and peace to thee. God wanted me now-He set me free.
