CHEATOM, Mr. Richard Clyde - Age 48, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Robert McCathern officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Cheatom will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Richard Clyde Cheatom was born April 29, 1967 in Flint, Michigan to loving parents, Bruce and Lillian Cheatom. Richard was a very loving person who just lived his life care free. He was always quiet and did not like drama and never asked fir much from anyone. He showed love for everyone and was always willing to help out. Richard never complained and whenever you asked him how he was doing, the answer was always, “I’m alright”. He loved football, basketball, and just chilling with family and friends. He was a gift that God gave us to cherish and love but, how many of us missed the mark? Mr. Richard Clyde Cheatom leaves to cherish his memories: god father, Melvin Townsend of St. Louis, MO; 5 sisters, Vivian Owens-Bates of Lima, OH, Thelma (Odester) Whitiker, Lillian, Sheila, and Melinda Cheatom all of Flint; brother, Bruce (Theresa) Cheatom Jr. of Antioch, TN; 7 nieces, Teresa Cain, Shanita Owens-Bates, LaTanya (Marlon) Battle, all of Lima, OH, Rubie Payne, Vanessa Paxton, and Shera Carter all of Flint, and Benita (Edward) Jefferson of Arlington, TX; 11nephews, Jerry Owens Jr., Matthew Cain, Julian Cain, Owen Turner III, LaRon Turner, Wilson Rogers III, Bruce Canady, and Joseph Carter, all of Flint, Anthony and Terrence Owens both of Lima, OH, and Antrell Cheatom of Antioch, TN; 5 aunts, Lillie Kelley, JoAnn Gwinn, Opal Holloway, all of Detroit, MI, Dorothy Cheatom of Flint, and Christine Hinton of Pine Bluff, ARK; uncle, Charles Holloway of Ecorse, MI; a host of loving nieces, nephews, family members, and childhood friends will cherish Richard’s memories as well. Mr. Richard Clyde Cheatom was preceded in death by his parents; Bruce and Lillian Cheatom, and his sister, Rubie Jean Landon.
