Mrs. Rhoda Marie Clark

CLARK, Mrs. Rhoda M. - Age 66, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at MediLodge-Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 11:30 AM Friday, May 5, 2023, at Bountiful Love Ministries, 3432 W. Pasadena Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Pastor Kevelin Jones II Host Pastor, and Bishop Hugh Daniel Smith, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd, Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:30 AM Friday. Mrs. Clark will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mrs. Rhoda Marie Swift-Clark, born December 26, 1956 at Community Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan, the oldest child of Mr. Dorrin Edwards Swift, Sr. and Olive Louise Swift-Taylor, was plucked from our family garden on April 21, 2023. The family relocated to Flint, Michigan and Rhoda graduated from Northwestern High School, “Class of 1975.” She was a Wildcat cheerleader. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, shopping, dancing, and taking care of others. Rhoda lived life on her own terms and she was a breath of fresh air to everyone she came in contact with. Her smile was infectious and she was a true diva. She loved to serve her community by working as an election poll worker on Election Day. She married the love of her life, James “Earl” Clark, Sr., twice. She retired from Hurley Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She attended Mott Community College as well. Mrs. Rhoda Clark accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and she was a member of Second Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, MI. She was also baptized and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Spirit at Emmanuel Covenant Church International in Battle Creek, MI. Mrs. Rhoda Marie Swift-Clark leaves to cherish her memory: husband, James E. Clark, Sr. of Flint, MI; mother, Olive Louise Taylor of Houston, TX; son, LaQuavis (Elica) Swift of Jackson, MI; daughter, The Honorable Tabitha (Jermarx) Marsh of Flint, MI; step-son, Taiwan (Alondra) Garner of Newnan, GA; step-daughter, Nataya Thomas of Houston, TX; brothers, Dorrin E. Swift, Jr. of Houston, TX, and Michael (Eloise) Swift of Spring, TX, DeArka Swift and MonQuell Bozell of Battle Creek, MI; sisters, Donna Swift (Tony) Osborne of Houston, TX and Doreatha D. Mrs. Swift-Clark was preceded in death by her son, James E. Clark, Jr. “He-Man”; father, Dorrin E. Swift, Sr.; step-father, James Taylor; brother, Edward Swift; grandmothers, Magnolia Knox and Minnie Swift; grandfathers, Johnnie Knox and Andrew Swift; aunts, Katherine Wynne, Queen Hamilton, Shirley, Helen, and Pearl Swift; uncles, Coyle, Tommy, John, Leroy and Andrew Swift, Robert Jones, Zack Beckwith, Willie B. Beckwith, and Eddie Cannon; father-in-law, Jimmie Clark; mother-in-law, Mary Clark; sisters-in-law, including Lucille Sims and Sheila Hill; brothers-in-law, including Norris Gordon; special aunts, Bernice Fordham and Doris Leak; and a host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
