Mother Rheba Mae Bowers

BOWERS, Mother Rheba Mae - Age 95, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, April 14, 2025 at Southeast Christian Church, 4171 Lapeer Rd., Burton, MI, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Suffragan Bishop Kenneth Brown, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Monday. Mother Bowers will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday. With family present from 2:00PM-4:00PM. Rheba (Johnson) Bowers was the third sibling of five children born to Archie and Flurcy Johnson on April 16, 1929. She married Edward Bowers on December 10, 1955 at Bethlehem Temple Church in Flint, Michigan by the late Dist. Elder B.T. Scott. To this union two sons were born, Archie and Edward. She has three grandchildren. Rheba was one of the church musicians at Bethlehem Temple Church and later Southeast Christian Church of the Apostolic Faith in Burton, Michigan. Between the two churches, Rheba played for 67 years. Rheba graduated from Flint Northern High School Class of 1947. Early employment was as an elevator operator at the Dryden Building and housekeeping in prominent Flint homes. Rheba’s last place of employment was IMA Cafeteria as a cook from 1969-1980. Her hobbies included playing piano, sewing, and growing roses. One thing that Rheba was known for was speaking her mind. Rheba Bowers leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Archie (Claudia) and Edward, both residents of Flint, MI. Grandchildren Alana (Darron) Burgos Peekskill, NY, Trey (Arielys) Bowers Candor, NC, and Edward Bowers Spokane, WA. Three great-grandchildren Yaly Burgos, Lailah and Brooke Bowers. Numerous nieces and nephews. Cousin Sammie Holmes Little Rock, AR. A host of other relatives and friends including special friends Sis. Geraldine Feaster, Sis. Viola Massey, and Sis. Cherrie Williams. Rheba was preceded in death by husband Edward Bowers. Archie (Flurcy) Johnson; parents. Ernestine (John) Brown, William (Izora) Johnson, Elizabeth Wright, Bishop James A.
