Mrs. Reversal Grant

GRANT, Mrs. Reversal - age 78, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Grant will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Ms. Reversal Grant was born on July 7, 1935 in Union Point, GA, the daughter of Rev. Eugene and Lillie (Alexander) Grant. She was born into a family of 15 siblings with 6 sisters and 9 brothers. She was raised in the church. Reversal received her education at Highland Park High School in Highland Park, MI. She was a long time resident of Flint. Reversal is best known for loving life, always having a good time, playing cards, dancing and not tolerating any nonsense. In honoring her brother, Samuel Grant’s wishes, Reversal dedicated her life to raising his 2 sons, Reginald and Gentry Grant. Even though she did not have children of her own, Reversal did an excellent job of raising her nephews and making sure they were well taken care of. Reversal is remembered fondly by her family as being a humanitarian, a loyal and dedicated woman. She always instilled in her nieces and nephews that “a person who stands for nothing will fall for anything.” Ms. Reversal Grant leaves to cherish her memory: Reginald and Gentry Grant whom she raised as her own; 7 nieces and 7 nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends: Roshelle Johnson, Leon, Mandra, Willie; nephews, Samuel Grant, Jr. of Virginia, Peter Grant of Atlanta, GA; great-niece, Marchita Washington of Louisville, KY; and Bretta Robinson of Flint. Ms. Grant was preceded in death by: parents, Rev. Eugene and Lillie (Alexander) Grant; 6 sisters; 9 brothers and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
