JOHNSON, Jr. Rev. Isaiah - Age 83, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Min. Adelaide Evans, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday with Family present from 5-8 p.m. Rev. Isaiah Johnson Jr. was born July 24, 1928, in Flint, MI, the son of Isaiah and Pleonie (Allen) Johnson. Rev. Johnson attended Northern High School and General Motors Institute (Kettering University). He enlisted in the Air Corps and received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army. He was employed with Chevrolet Metal Fabricating for 30 years and was a member of Local 659. Rev. Johnson ran the Bobby Crim Race for over 20 years. He also received several trophies for playing Table Tennis, while in the Armed Forces and was the Local 659 Table Tennis Champion in 1978. Rev. Johnson was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years, serving faithfully until dementia adversely affected his health. He previously served in the capacity of Assistant Church Treasurer, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher, Evangelistic Team Coordinator and Associate Minister of the church. Rev. Johnson along with the late Minister Delores Lewis was instrumental in the organization of the church evangelistic team. Rev. Johnson stood firm on his religious beliefs and would not compromise in what he believed. He enjoyed studying and living by God’s word. Rev. Isaiah Johnson Jr. leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Cherie Rene’ Johnson of Mt. Morris, MI and Camille Johnson of Flint, MI; sons, Isaiah Johnson III of Elk Grove, CA, and Eric (Lynda) Johnson of Houston, TX; 6 grandchildren, LeeAnn ReMar Tarver of Mt. Morris, MI, Renea Durrean Timmons and Shanese Leenae Timmons of Flint, MI, Attorney Ericka (Wade) Graunke of Oak Park, IL, and Jackson Powell Johnson of Bridgewater, VA; great grandson, Myles Xavier Graunke of Oak Park, IL; Goddaughter, Theresa Marble of Flint; sister, Rose L. Daniels of Brooklyn, NY; sister-in-law, Ardyce Urquhart of Flint; brother-in-law, Edward Urquhart of Chinese Camp, CA; nieces, Cheryl Jackson, Kim (Shawn) McBride, Charline, and Marie Daniels of Brooklyn, NY, Denise (William) Epps of Columbus, GA, and Gerriann Burt, and Jackie Urquhart of Flint, MI, Joy Hawkins of Flushing, MI Jeaninne Urquhart-Timmons of Grand Blanc, MI; nephews, William Daniels, Paul Brumache, of Brooklyn, NY, Keith Urquhart of Grand Blanc, MI, Pastors Charles (Stephanye) Wells of Flint, MI, and Donald (Angela) Urquhart of Chinese Camp, CA. Rev. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annie Lee; sister, Earnestine; brother, Jack; 4 brother-in-laws; 2 sister-in-laws; several aunts and uncles.
