Mrs. Reola Handy

HANDY, Mrs. Reola - Age 81, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in Flushing, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 4075 E. Atherton Rd., Burton, MI, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. Keith Bigelow, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Handy will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be from viewed 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Reola Handy was born June 4, 1938 in Dumas, Arkansas, the daughter of Ernest Williams and Charlie Mae Jones. Reola was a longtime resident of Flint, Michigan. She was an active member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church serving on the Nurses Guild, Greeter, Security Team and Missionary Team. Reola attended Mott Community College obtaining 2 Associate Degrees. She was a Licensed Cosmetologist. Reola was devoted to her 6 children and was a full time stay at home mom. Mrs. Handy had many hobbies which included, reading (especially the bible), writing poems, sewing, traveling and going for morning walks. She loved to cook, take care of her many plants, watch TCT, listen to 1420AM (all day long) and shop. Reola was a fashionista, diva in her own right who always dressed to impress. She could have conversation with anyone, talking from sunrise to sunset. Mrs. Reola Handy leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Tangie Cathcart of Los Angeles, CA, Carrie Handy of Fort Worth, TX, Lacracha Handy and Lorrice (Darin) Kelly; son, Alpha Williams; grandchildren, Santoya Handy, all of Flint, Delonte Hunter of Orlando, FL, Rochelle Cathcart of Los Angeles, CA, Xavius Brooks of Canton, MI, Robert Cathcart of Los Angeles, CA, Russell Handy, Airyc Handy, Deandre Mance, Tavares Mance, Kourtnie Kelly and Sydnie Kelly; great-grandchildren, Kenya Powell, all of Flint, Damian Williams of Livonia, MI and Ro-Mya Cathcart of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Nellie Davis of Flint; brother, Charley Lee Jones of Lansing, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friend, Renee Norris. Mrs. Reola Handy was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Handy Jr.; parents, Ernest Williams and Charlie Mae Jones; sister, Bertha Lee Jones; brothers, Chester Lee Jackson, Robert Lee Robinson and Larry Jones.
