Reola Blackwell

BLACKWELL, Mrs. Reola Lee - Age 73, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2005 at her residence. Family hour 10:00AM Wednesday, November 23, 2005 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Thelma Wilson, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Wednesday. Mrs. Blackwell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Tuesday. Mrs. Reola L. Blackwell was born on August 19, 1932, in Sherill, Arkansas the daughter of Scipio Johnson and Mary Scott. Mrs. Blackwell became a resident of Flint in 1952. She was employed as a waitress and babysitter, but primarily as a housewife. In 1959, she joined Zion Hill Spiritual Church (Pastor James R. Thomas, Pastor), where she served as Pastoral Nurse. In 1993, she became a member of St. Jude Christian Temple of Life (Dr. Thelma Wilson, Pastor), where she served on the Mothers Board and as the Church Secretary. During the 1960?s Reola and husband Climme E. founded the Original Gospel Rollinaires Quartet Singers and later the Gospel Rollinettes Quartet Singers of Flint, MI. Reola loved quartet singing and sang with Heavenly Bound, The Senior Citizens, and other Gospel Quartet Singers. Mrs. Blackwell also loved the Word of God, and often spoke of her faith and confidence in God. Her favorite song was "Look Where He Brought Me From", her favorite Bible scripture was Psalms 138:8..."The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me." Reola was the proud mother of Juanita, grandmother of David and Very proud great-grandmother of Ayanna. Mrs. Reola Lee Blackwell leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Juanita Hudson of Flint; a host of stepchildren including, Brenda (Isaiah) Blackwell-Hickmon of Flint, and Climmie (Doris) Blackwell, Jr. of Country Club Hills, IL; grandchild, David M. (Patrice) Hudson; great-grandchild, Ayanna M. Hudson; mother, Mary Scott-Robinson of Carlisle, AR; 4 sisters, Bertha (Willie C.) Ainsworth of Pine Bluff, AR, Georgia Scarber of Hazelcrest, IL, Janice Boyd and Maureen Shorter of Chicago, IL; 3 brothers, Scipio Johnson, Jr. of Moscow, AR, Vernon and Chuck Johnson both of Chicago, IL; a host of nieces including, Beverly Shavers of Moscow, AR; a host of cousins; sister-in-law, Ann (Lou) Willis of Decatur, GA; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Doris Rochelle, Rev. Dr. Thelma Wilson, Roberta Buycks, Louella Plair, Charlie Mitchell, Grace Minor, spiritual daughters, Vera J. Styles and Pearl Dukes. Mrs. Reola Lee Blackwell was preceded in death by her husband Climmie E. Blackwell; father, Scipio Johnson; sister, Bernice Shavers.
