ANDREWS-CHANEY, Mrs. Renee - Age 47, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at University of Michigan Hospital. Family hour 11AM Friday, January 23, 2009 at Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, 5802 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Pastor Ernest J. Garrison officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Friday. Mrs. Andrews-Chaney will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Renee Andrews-Chaney was born December 28, 1961 in Flint, MI the daughter of Mr. Theodore and Inez Wright Andrews. Renee graduated from Northwestern High School, “Class of 1980”; she went on to graduate from Baker College in 1983 with an Associate Degree in Business. She was employed at EDS for 21 years. Renee was a member of Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, where her activities included the Trinity Choir, Food Bank, Lakeside Tabernacle Community Outreach Program and the Willing Workers of Vernon Chapel. She had a long struggle with various health issues but through it all, she stayed encouraged. Renee donated tissue to the University of Michigan Scleroderma Research Project. Mrs. Renee Andrews-Chaney is survived by her husband, Otto Chaney; 1 son, Terrell Andrews; 1 daughter, Ountane Chaney; mother to son, Aquarius Chaney and daughter, Mozella Chaney; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; mother, Inez Andrews; 4 brothers, Willie (Karen), Clay (Pat), Kevin Andrews and Theodore (Rolinda) Harkness; 2 sisters, Theodora Syvella Brown and Linda (Jeffrey) Hall; mother-in-law, Mary Chaney; 8 brothers-in-law, Thomas (Christine), Dunell (Jackie), Rufus (Maggie), Purvill (Dian), Douglas (Nana), Milton (Jenny), Tommie (Margaret), Peter (Dorothy); 7 sisters-in-law, Lillian Robinson, Mattie (Channing) Pearson, Betty (Thomas) Arnieri, Linda Hunter, Mary Ann McNeil, Barbara Beard and Elie (Willis) Chapman; 15 aunts; 3 uncles; special cousins, Clara Blakely and Lawrence Warren; goddaughters, Tamisha Ford and Malya Day; godfather, Cornelius Williams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and special friends, Dell Marie Petty, Loretha Roberts, Ruth Boone, Deaella Andrews, Berdie Brown, Loretta Bingham including childhood friends, Rosaline Ford, Debra Steward and Kimberly Osborne. Mrs. Andrews-Chaney was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Andrews; brother, Mark Andrews; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Elmahdi Saeed, the Hurley Medical Center staff; Dr. Elaina Tishckoski, Dr. Valerie McLaughin and their staffs at the University of Michigan Hospital, Bobbie & Myron Levine all of Ann Arbor, MI., Vernon Chapel A.M.E.
