JONES, Eld. Reginold B. - age 62, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Genesys Health Park, Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Bountiful Love Ministries, 3432 W. Pasadena Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kevelin Jones, Sr., Host Pastor, Pastor Lawrence Washington, Sr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Eld. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Friday. Elder Reginold Brownell Jones was born October 26, 1951 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Joseph L. Jones and Helen (McMullan) Edwards. He was educated in the Flint Public School System and later attended C. S. Mott College. In 1978, he married the love of his life, Missionary Theresa Oliver. To this union were birthed two beautiful girls, Olivia and Regina. He loved studying science and current events so much that his family affectionately called him Dr. Jones. He also loved to fish. But most of all, he was a fisher of men; Elder Jones truly loved the Lord. He was called into the ministry and licensed under the leadership of then Pastor Roger L. Jones of Greater Holy Temple COGIC and the late Bishop John Seth Bailey, Southwest MI Jurisdiction. He was later asked by Pastor Kevelin Jones to join him in starting Bountiful Love Ministries where he became an elder under the leadership of Bishop P. A. Brooks, Northeast MI Jurisdiction. “Matters of the Heart” is the nickname given to him after a memorable message he preached. In his later years, he was a faithful member (as his health allowed) at The Church of God – Kent Street under the leadership of Pastor Lawrence Washington, Sr. Elder Jones enjoyed Bible Study class, for this was time for exegesis of the scriptures, to get a clear understanding of the principles of God, and to apply them to holy and righteous living. He had a true heart for the Young Adult Department and often encouraged them to seek God with their whole hearts. Elder Jones was a praying man, often sharing how he prayed until the Holy Spirit rained on him. He took every opportunity to impart wisdom through comical stories of his personal experiences. Elder Jones went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2014. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife of 35 years: Missionary Theresa O. Jones; 2 daughters, Olivia Mitchell and Regina Jones; 2 grandchildren, Dominique and Ariel Mitchell; and his mother, Helen (McMullan) Edwards (Burton, MI); 4 sisters, Inga Evans and Camilla (Ira) Gilbert of Flint, MI; Candace (Jerry) Ezell and Dara Benton of Grand Blanc, MI; 2 brothers, Derrick Murphy of Flint, MI and Kimit Murphy of Burton, MI; 3 stepbrothers, Melford “Tommy” Edwards of Oxford, OH, Gary Edwards of Flint, MI and Kevin “Anthony” Edwards of Detroit, MI; 2 aunts, Ida Spencer of Flint, MI and Delisa (Tyrone) Sweeney of Saginaw, MI; an uncle, Maurice (Betty) McMullan of Ypsilanti, MI; a close nephew, Anthony Feimster and niece Alina Oliver, both of Flint, MI; 5 sisters-in-law, Emmer Hall of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Franklin of St. Louis, MO, Terry Oleka of Irvington, NJ, Celestine (Louis) Roberson and Brenda Feimster of Genesee Township, MI; 2 brothers-in-laws, Howard Oliver, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA and Sidney (Cathy) Oliver, Bordentown, NJ; a host of other relatives and friends especially Elder Steven Richardson and Pastor Lonnie Brown, both of Flint, MI. Elder Jones was preceded in death by his father, Pastor Joseph L. Jones; stepfather, Willie (Buddy) Edwards; and grandparents, Matthew and Lucille McMullan (who raised him).
