JOHNSON, Dea. Raymond - Age 91, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Maplewood Manor, Clio, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Allen C. Overton Sr., officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Deacon Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday with family present from 4:00PM-6:00PM, September 15, 2023. Mr. Raymond Johnson was born September 23, 1931 in Cornersville, Arkansas, the son of Alfonzo and Estella Johnson. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan. Raymond married Ethel Mae Gray on August 4, 1954 in Monticello, Arkansas and to this union were born, 2 boys and 3 girls. He was employed at Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors Corporation for 31 years and retired in 1981. Raymond was a faithful member of Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, Sunday School Department, sang in the Voices of Christ Fellowship, Male Chorus, enjoyed Bible Study and served on the Usher Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards and family outings. Deacon Johnson was a loving family man and will be greatly missed. Mr. Raymond Johnson leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 69 years, Ethel Mae Johnson; 3 daughters and 1 son, Kevin (Frankie) Johnson of Ozan, AR, Beverly (Rev. Dallas) Cummings, Lisa (James Jr.) Blakley, all of Grand Blanc, MI and Elaine Dorsey of Flint Twp., MI; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; 3 sisters-in-law, MaeVern (Benny) Spence of Marietta, GA, Jean Durrett of Flint and Barbara Gray of White Hall, AR; brother-in-law, Chris Ridgell of West Bloomfield, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Bro. Jerry Valentine of Mt. Morris, MI and Deacon Charles Payne of Flint. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his son, Sgt. Alex Johnson; parents, Alfonzo and Estella Johnson; 5 sisters, Sammie, Girlie Mae, Gertrude, Venola and Veva Jean; 4 brothers, Alonzo, Earl, Vennie and Roscoe; and son-in-law, Chris Dorsey Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Maple Wood Manor, Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church family, Jackson Memorial Temple Church Of God In Christ family and Heart-to-Heart Hospice.
