Deacon Raymond H. Briscoe

BRISCOE, Deacon Raymond H. - Age 80, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at McLaren - Flint. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center Rd., Burton, MI, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Urundi Knox, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Deacon Briscoe will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, with family present from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. to receive friends. Deacon Raymond H. Briscoe was born March 31, 1936 in Rankintown, Pennsylvania, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Howard and Amanda Briscoe. He attended Monongahela Public School System, graduating from Monongahela High School and later earned his Associates Degree from Mott Community College. Deacon Briscoe gave his life to Christ at an early age, and for over 30 years, was a member of Ebenezer Ministries. He accepted God’s call to serve as a Deacon, after attending the Delores Ministries (a Christian retreat). Not only did he serve, he did so happily and faithfully. Deacon Briscoe was a member of a traveling group ‘The Gospel Five’, a member of the Ebenezer Male Chorus, a mentor for ‘Save Our Sons Ministry’, a Sunday School Teacher, and a spirit-filled motivator. In May 2013, Ebenezer Ministries dedicated a building in his Honor. Deacon Briscoe was a skilled trade “Pipe-Fitter” at Chevrolet V8 Engine Plant “Chevy In The Hole”, a division of General Motors, retiring in 1996 after 42 years of service. He was also a proud member of the UAW Local #659. Deacon Briscoe enjoyed reading his daily Word, singing, using his “tablet reader” given to him by his daughter, Kimberly and watching professional wrestling with his mother-in-law, Madie Thompson. He loved his family dearly, both near and far, and could sit and tell you countless stories about all of them. Deacon Raymond H. Briscoe leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 13 years, McJuests “Chucki” Briscoe of Swartz Creek, MI; daughters, Michele E. Callaway and Ericka Briscoe, both of Flint, and Kimberly Richardson of Wilmington, DE; sons, Rayce H. (Margarita) Briscoe of Grand Blanc, MI and Roy (Charyce) Richardson of Smyrna, GA; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Briscoe was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Amanda Briscoe; first wife, Elizabeth Briscoe; son, Dana E. Briscoe; sister, Beulah Briscoe-Byars; and brothers, Howard, Cecil, Leonard, James, and George Briscoe. The family would like to express special thanks to Bishop Urundi Knox and the Ebenezer Ministries family, Ebenezer Deacon Board, caregiver, Janet Chandler, and special friend, Debra Cooley.
