Eld. Rayford Gray

GRAY, Eld. Rayford - Age 74, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with memorial service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Alonzo Vincent officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. There will be no public viewing. Mr. Rayford Gray was born September 28, 1940 to Mr. and Mrs. Dock & Annie Gray of Henderson Texas, where he was reared by godly parents. After the death of his mother he moved to Seattle WA. to live with his sister. Shortly after the family settled in Los Angeles, California, where he worked until moving to Flint Michigan. In 1976, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Sarah P. Simmons. This lovely couple started a journey that lasted until God called him from labor to reward. To this union was born one son Rayford Vernell Gray. He was his Dad's pride and joy. His spiritual journey started as a young child by godly parents that taught him the fear and reverance God. He was called into the ministry under the guidance of Pastor Quintin L. Marshall. He later recieved the call to Pastor and started Christian Mission Full Gospel Church for 7 years, where lives were greatly touched. Pastor Ray was faithful to God and his mission until his health began to decline never waivering to the promises of God he was often found reading his Bible and attending church when he could. He was a lover of sports some of his favorites were baskeball and football he always followed the high school games even after his son graduated from high school. Elder Rayford pursued higher education receiving his high school diploma from Northern High School in Flint MI, and received a degree in Biblical Theology. He leaves to cherish sweet and lasting memories: his loving & caring wife, Sarah P. Gray; son, Rayford Vernell Gray; special granddaughter, Jalaile S. Rice (Papa's girl); loving sister, Pearl Hayes of San Diego, CA; one brother-in-law, Major (Janice) Fuller of Ludowici, GA; three sisters-in-law, Mary F. Hines, Cecelia Brooks and Pastor Wanda K. Marshall, all of Flint; a host of caring nieces and nephews including niece, Hope (David) Hatton of San Diego, CA and nephew, Javier Hayes of San Diego, CA. Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; mother and father-in-law; and 2 brothers-in-law. His life's wish was to donate his body to science.
