Mr. Ray Milton Smith

SMITH, Mr. Ray M. -Age 68, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Brian D. Grundy officiating. Interment Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Flat Rock, MI. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mr. Ray Milton Smith was born March 29, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Odelle Ferguson and Rosie Lee P Smith. Ray attended grade school and high school in Tchula, Ms. He moved to Flint, Michigan at 17 years of age and was employed at General Motors Corporation from which he retired. Ray enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his children. Ray also enjoyed playing cards and watching his sports teams, the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. Ray resided in Newport, MI for his later years of life. Mr. Ray Smith leaves to cherish his memory: longtime companion, Carol Carmichael of Newport, MI; children, Cedric (Bernadette) Smith, Quintin (Nichelle) Smith, Latashia Smith, Krista Smith of Flint, Raychelle Smith of Southaven, MS, Lamar and Lenora Collins of Chicago, IL; 2 step-children, Linda (Raymond) Taylor of Flint, MI, Angelia Taylor of Warrington, PA; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Dixie (Doll) Smith of Flushing, MI, Candace Blanks of Chicago, IL, Carolyn (Kenneth) Ferguson-Harden and Patricia Ferguson both of Ellenwood, GA; 3 brothers, J.B. (Marsha) Smith, Jr. of Flint, George Johnson of Henderson, NV, Carl Ferguson of Elkhart, IN and Ronald Ferguson of Coloma, MI; several nieces and nephews including special niece, Yolonda Cross, and a host of cousins, other relatives and special friends. Mr. Ray Smith was preceded in death by; grandchildren, Tyree and Terrell Barber; parents, Odell Ferguson and Rosie Lee Smith; brother, Roy Smith; nephew Earl Bell, grandparents, Willis and Annie Pullens and special aunt, Virginia Patterson.
