Mr. Rashawn Jondel Hamlin

HAMLIN, Mr. Rashawn Jondel - Age 46, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 at his residence. Private service has taken place. Mr. Rashawn Jondel Hamlin was born July 6, 1977 in Flint, Michigan, the son of John and Sybil Hamlin. Rashawn was affectionately known as “Nicky” by his parents, family and friends. Nic graduated from Flint Northwestern High School “Class of 1995.” Moving on to became a “Master Barber” in the community as well as an entrepreneur. After proudly graduating from the Flint Institute of Barbering and starting his passion as a barber that began at a young age, as he was always encouraged by his loving parents. Known to his Westbay family and friends as “Nicky Yu”, Nic loved cracking jokes and was loved by many. Always making sure to show up and support his children and grandchildren at their events or engagements, he would never miss an opportunity to cheer them on. His grandchildren lovingly knowing him as “Pop Pop”. Uncle Nicky gave all the family children nicknames and loved coaching youth basketball for the Flint Community Schools, always showing kindness and encouraging the youth in his presence. A true fan of boxing and comedy. Nicky loved his family and cutting hair until he passed away. Mr. Rashawn Jondel Hamlin leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Sheneka R. Hamlin; 3 daughters and 2 sons, Rashawn (Kiara) Hamlin, BreAsia (Jevonte) Hamlin, Daylin Hamlin, Sanaia Colen and Rihanna “Oatmeal” Hamlin; step-child, Jaylin Humphries; grandchildren, Rashawn, Ramelo, Ryleigh and Kamryn Hamlin, Zari Brielle and Zoey Alexander, Londyn, Leland, Aries and Asire Felix, Aubrielle and Amir Humphries; 2 sisters, Adrian (Josh) Rhone and Monica “Punkin” Blackwell; 5 nieces, Whitney Jackson, Jazzmyn Blackwell, Joshlyn Crumpton, Danaya and Damesha Humphries; nephews, Lorenzo (Patrice) Jackson, Jamar (Mala) Blackwell, Lawrence Holly and “BabyfxcE”; aunt, Wilma Parker; 2 uncles, Michael Hamlin and Raymond Diem; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Hamlin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sybil Hamlin; and step-son, Andre Felix Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to the Alexander and Munerlyn families, Calvin and Louis Bolyston, Uncle Ray and Dr. Linda Itson.
