Mr. Quennel Charles Banks

BANKS, Mr. Quennel Charles - age 30, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 in Mesa, AZ. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Henry L. Fuller, Jr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and palllbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Mr. Banks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12noon - 8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Quennel Charles Banks began his earthly life on January 6, 1984, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Odessa Elliott of Flint and Charles Banks of Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his journey August 16, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona. He grew up in Flint attended the public schools, graduating from Northern High School class of 2002. He later attended Grand Rapids Community College, majoring in Business Administration, graduated in 2004. He was employed by Macy’s in Grand Rapids, then transferred to Phoenix, Arizona, and was employed at Phoenix International Airport Hertz Car Rental. Mr. Banks enjoyed his family and friends, playing basketball, video games and listening to music. He was an entrepreneur of a small company, “Shoebox Production”; as well as an instructor for a basketball camp, where young boys were taught the fundamentals of basketball. His spiritual journey began when accepted Christ at early age and was baptized at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late, Dr. Granville Smith. He served with the Youth and Usher Ministries. Mr. Quennel Charles Banks sweet memories will be cherished by: mother, Odessa Elliott; grandmother, Rosa Hussey of Flint; brother, Cornelius (Kinaisha) Elliott of St. Mary, GA; niece, Kaydence Elliott; 5 uncles, Earnest (Deidre) Elliott of Muncie, Indiana, William (Julia) Bradley, Harper (Lucinda) Jimerson and James Jimerson all of Tuscaloosa, Al, Sylvester (Barbara) Jimerson of Ypsilanti, MI; 5 aunts, Debra (Earnest) McCruder, Ada Jimerson and Yvonne Jimerson all of Tuscaloosa, Al, Kurtis Bell of Ypsilanti, MI and Mary Jimerson of Flint, MI; special friends, Henry Anderson, Cantrell Warren, Antijuand Moore and Michael white; girlfriend, Alinah Hall of Mesa, Arizona. Mr. Banks was preceded in death by his aunt; Theresa Elliott, uncle; Sylvester Jimerson. Special thanks to his big brother, Dwight (Brenda) Johnson, Hertz car Rental of Phoenix, Arizona and Pastor Fuller and the MT. Calvary Missionary Church family.
