Mrs. Priscilla Degraftenreed

DEGRAFTENREED, Mrs. Priscilla - age 85, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 735 E. Wager Ave. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor James Waldon officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Degraftenreed will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday. Ms. Priscilla "Spiller" Degraftenreed was born September 12, 1928 in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of Princilla Paschal and Porter (Gladys) Buchanon. She was a faithful member for over 40 years at Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir until her health failed. Ms. Degraftenreed was a caretaker for many adults and children, and she loved helping people and she loved her church family. Ms. Degraftenreed leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Karen Spiller (Ken Houston-fiance) of Mt. Morris, MI; 4 grandchildren, Beuhammad of Flint, Jasmine Spiller of Mt. Morris, MI, Keith Horton Jr., of Grapevine, TX, and Keisha Horton of Austin, TX; 5 great-grandchildren, Jayla, Cierra, Z’yare, Brooklyn, and J’Hon Spiller all of Flint; daughter in-law, Nicol Spiller of Oakland, CA; 2 nieces, Paulette Mayfield, and Marie Massey; cousins, Eva Hamilton and the Skipper family; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends Ella Mae Lewis, Ms. Canty, Mary Buck, the Lewis family, Louis Spiller, Lynell Spiller, Johnie Spiller (father of her children), Leroy Lewis, Sr., the Stone family, the Brown family, and Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church Family. Ms. Degraftenreed was preceded in death by: husband, Joseph Degratenreed; son, Kenneth Spiller; parents, Princilla Paschal, and Porter (Gladys) Buchanon; 2 brothers; aunt, Druanna Buchanon; and friends, Ruby Scott and Dorothy Greene. The family would like to express special thanks to: Ella Mae Lewis, Kith Haven Nursing facility; Sharon Chapman, Jasmine McKawon and Nurse Chrisy, McLaren regional medical center ICU west and nurse Tasha (11th floor), True Hope Full Gospel Christian Church and Pastor J.
